Scopely is looking for a Vice President, Associate General Counsel – Product & Privacy to join our Legal Team in Culver City, CA on a hybrid basis.
This individual will oversee global legal product and privacy functions, advising teams on compliance with laws covering privacy, data security, IP, marketing, and consumer protection. Key responsibilities include managing privacy compliance, implementing product and marketing compliance processes, and providing legal guidance on game development, marketing, and platform technologies.

What You Will Do
Lead the Product and Privacy legal functions across the global organization
Counsel global Product, Engineering, IT/Security, Data Analytics, Business Development, Marketing, Customer Support, Community, People, PR/Communications, Advertising/Monetization, User Acquisition, and other teams on legal and regulatory issues related to game development and commercialization, including compliance with US and international laws related to privacy and data security protection, IP, marketing, and consumer protection
Manage company-wide privacy and data protection compliance processes in partnership with other cross-functional teams, including conducting global data mapping reviews, updating internal- and external-facing notices and policies, and managing and advising on internal compliance procedures
Implement and manage ongoing product and marketing compliance processes across the Scopely platform and game portfolio, including in relation to contests and sweepstakes, gacha mechanics, and other consumer protection considerations
Work with global product teams to review products, features, in-game events, monetization, marketing, promotions, platform technology, and other initiatives, and provide practical advice to manage legal and regulatory risk
Provide guidance on and support on trademark, copyright, and patent issues
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 15+ years of combined relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, preferably working within gaming, media, or other technology
Significant experience advising on legal and regulatory considerations in the video game, ideally with a focus on privacy and data protection frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, Privacy Shield, etc.), marketing, and consumer protection
Experience working with multiplatform games, including AAA games on console and PC platforms
Experience with U.S. payment processing regulatory compliance - International experience a plus
Strong academic credentials
Experience working with global teams cross-functionally and across time zones
Attention to detail, problem-solving mentality, and ability to follow through in a fast-paced environment
A team player mindset (no job is too big or too small)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and re-prioritize based on changing needs
Sense of humor and a passion for mobile gaming
People management experience
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $258,550,000 - $298,750, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
