Lab49 is seeking a Web and Mobile Tech Lead to lead a team in Mexico City. The role involves designing, building, and deploying UI technology for investment managers who create and consume buy-side research content. You will collaborate with a US-based project team and direct a local engineering team to deliver performant web and mobile applications. The position requires a passion for technology, innovation, and staying updated with industry trends, with experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, modern frameworks like React/Angular/Vue, and React Native. Backend engineering experience, ideally with .NET, is also desirable.
Must have:
- 10+ years of experience building complex software applications
- 5+ years leading Agile teams

- 5+ years of hands-on React Native experience
- Experience with cloud platforms

- Experience with tools like Excel, Salesforce, Databricks
- Experience in capital markets/buy-side investment management

Lab49 is seeking a Web and Mobile Tech Lead to lead a team of engineers locally in Mexico, tasked with designing, building, and deploying UI technology for investment managers creating and consuming buy-side research content. You will report to the Tech Lead on the Project team, which means you will have responsibility for collaborating with a US based team of project leads and directing a local team of engineers to deliver beautiful, performant web and mobile applications that manage buy side research content.
What you should have
- 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building complex, commercial-grade software applications, with 5+ years leading Agile teams.
- Proven track record in effective leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Experience managing project teams and interacting with clients in finance or consulting or start-up environments.
- A passion for technology and innovation, staying informed about the latest industry trends through active participation in industry events, meet-ups, and more.
- Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, with modern frameworks (e.g., Angular/ React/ Vue, or others).
- Hands-on experience – 5+ years - with React Native.
- Hands-on experience with the React Native ecosystem of tools such as Expo.
- Experience with one or more cloud platforms with a working understanding of contemporary SDLC practices such as continuous delivery.
- Strong understanding of the value of testing, quality, continuous integration, source control, and code reviews.
- Backend engineering experience, ideally with .NET. Spring Boot and similar are also desirable.
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Excellent communication skills
Bonus points
- Experience working with common financial products such as Bloomberg, Symphony, or other tools commonly used in a finance context such as Excel, Salesforce, Databricks, and others.
- Experience in capital markets, specifically buy side investment management.
