You'll join a team with native mobile engineers, QA, product, project, data, and design and report to the Games App Mobile Engineering Manager. The app is written mostly in Swift and uses SwiftUI for new feature development. NYT Games is a collaborative team that values inclusion, diversity, and personal growth. You could typically expect to come into the office two days per week. Responsibilities <ul><li>Design, develop, and test new features using Swift</li><li>Work with product, PMO, design, data, QA, and other engineers to guide product development</li><li>Contribute to app architectural decisions, technical roadmap and timeline estimations</li><li>Participate in technical discussions with backend developers and other owners of internal/external dependencies</li><li>Promote standards in Swift development, and engage with the community of iOS developers at the Times</li><li>Ensure app stability by writing quality code and partnering with the QA team to test and fix bugs </li></ul>
Basic Qualifications <ul><li>2+ years full time experience as an iOS Engineer</li><li>2+ years of iOS Swift experience, including writing unit tests, networking, data persistence and UI</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of Swift UI and iOS design patterns, memory management and multi-threading</li><li>Experience translating product goals into quality shippable code </li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications <ul><li>Exposure to hybrid development</li><li>Previous games experience or demonstrated interest in the NYT Games product </li></ul>
This role may require limited on-call hours. An on-call schedule will be determined when you join, taking into account team size and other variables.
