Job Description

The New York Times Sunday Magazine is seeking a Temporary Copy Editor for 20-30 weeks. This role involves proofreading and copy editing articles (1,000-10,000 words) for spelling, grammar, clarity, factualness, and adherence to New York Times style and standards. The editor will work collaboratively with various teams, manage multiple articles through several editing rounds, and adapt to deadlines. The position is in-office in New York City, four days a week, with some remote flexibility.

The Sunday Magazine is looking for a Copy Editor for a temporary position for between roughly 20 and 30 weeks, with the opportunity for future relief help. You have a detailed eye, curious nature and a collaborative, collegial spirit. You will work with writers, story editors, researchers, designers, photography editors and production members. The ability to work on (and meet!) deadlines is a must, as well as the openness to adapt to changes.

This is an in-office position, based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance.
