Job Description

This internship at Haleon's Technical Center of Excellence focuses on ensuring the business continuity of commercial products by resolving technical issues related to raw material or processing changes. The intern will conduct analytical and practical experiments, investigate material attributes, understand regulatory contexts, and identify optimal manufacturing processes for powder sizing in oral solid dose forms. The role involves hands-on experience with lab-scale equipment and material testing, aiming to provide expert recommendations backed by trusted science.
Must have:
  • Investigate and understand material attributes that drive product robustness.
  • Understand regulatory context and constraints around material use in dietary supplement, food, and pharmaceutical oral solid dose forms.
  • Measure raw material physical/chemical properties and correlate properties to product manufacture suitability.
  • Identify optimal manufacturing process for powder sizing which yields acceptable performance in flow, compression, and storage of material.
  • Conduct experimentation in lab scale equipment to assess different process and material inputs on product properties and performance.
  • Plan and organize DOEs to identify key material attributes and how they impact product properties and performance.
  • Document derived technical understanding for both R&D and Quality Supply Chain use in identifying better performing materials.

The Technical Center of Excellence Maintenance Team ensures the business continuity of our commercial products through the resolution of technical issues due to raw material or processing changes. This includes both analytical and practical experiments to probe how changes in raw materials or manufacturing processes could impact the final product. This team also aids with product investigations when unforeseen issues arise during manufacturing. Our purpose is to address complex technical challenges by providing expert recommendations backed by trusted science such that our customers have the best information available to ensure efficient fulfilment of high-quality products. The team has access to lab and pilot scale facilities to test and investigate material properties of ingredients and products as well as prepare ingredients and products for feasibility, sensory, or regulatory filing studies. We strive to be a trusted central resource on hand to support the business units and manufacturing sites when additional technical resources are needed to maintain our commercial products on the market.
