We are arx anima, an animation studio based in Vienna, Frankfurt, Leipzig & Madrid and have been producing animation cinema productions for years. We also have the courage to try every new technical challenge and innovation.
Be it pioneering in lighting with Houdini Solaris / USD workflows, the realization of a high-end MoCap studio, or the construction of the largest render farm in Austria. And besides all the R&D, features, and series we love to work on creatively animated commercials and other service work. For example, we just revived Mozart through an immersive 360° art projection about Vienna in his era.
- We are looking for a Technical Director with focus in animation.
- The Role of an Animation Technical Director is to support the animation team with technical solutions. Animation TDs work with the animation software, solving the artists technical issues, developing and testing tools, custom features and add-ons, and bridging the gap between software developers and animation artists.
To identify technical problems and come up with creative and efficient solutions for the animation department, finding ways to overcome obstacles and make the animators life easier.
To develop and test tools, custom features and add-ons for the animation department.
To test 3D rigs performance.
To optimize Shotgrid tracking system according to the animation department needs.
To give technical support to all animation staff, communicate well, and have a positive attitude.
Previous experience as Animation TD for 3D TV shows or most preferably, feature films.
Strong understanding of the 3D animation pipeline, what it involves, the needs and challenges of the animation department tasks.
Expert Knowledge of Autodesk Maya animation software, together with Animbots and Studio Library plugins.
Programming and coding skills with Autodesk Maya.
Basic knowledge on 3D rigging technical features and tasks.
Experience working with Shotgrid.
Experience working with both, Main Character animation and Crowd Character animation.
Ideally, to have basic animation skills.

Payment: Our compensation is based on experience and according to the collective agreement
Working hours: full time 38,5h
