Job Description

Applied Materials is seeking an Application Engineer III to advance materials engineering solutions for chip and display production. This role involves designing, building, and servicing cutting-edge equipment, driving innovative solutions, and optimizing service products at customer sites. The engineer will utilize data science, statistical methods, and AI/ML techniques to improve equipment, wafer, and factory performance, contributing to next-generation technology.

Must Have:
  • At least 6 years of semiconductor thin film or Etch process/hardware experience.
  • Strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Expertise in semiconductor process and hardware with hands-on lab/fab experience.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art analytics applications.
  • Ability to engage in service product development and optimization at customer sites.
  • Proficiency in deploying new service products to troubleshoot issues and validate value.
  • Experience leading and supporting projects to deliver KPIs.
  • Clear and timely communication with internal and external customers.
  • Skills in semiconductor equipment troubleshooting, including maintenance.
  • Focus on improving wafer and device performance, reducing defects, and improving yield.
  • Ability to utilize data science, statistical methods, and AI/ML techniques.
  • Fluent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to document BKMs and procedures for training.
  • Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • At least +6 years semiconductor thin film or Etch process/hardware experience preferred.
  • Strong Data analysis capabilities is required, Direct experience of algorithm writing (e.g., R, Python) is a plus.
  • A semiconductor process and hardware expert with hands-on lab/fab experience and knowledge of state-of-the-art analytics applications.
  • Engage on service product development including NPI alpha in lab and optimization at customer sites.
  • Deploy New service products to solve customer HVPs in troubleshoot issues in fabs and validate value in the field.
  • Lead and support projects to deliver to KPIs for success at customer site.
  • Communicate clearly and timely to both internal and external customers on progress vs plan, results, next steps, and help needed.
  • Semiconductor equipment trouble shooting including corrective and preventative maintenance.
  • Improving wafer and device performance, reducing defects and improving yield
  • Utilizing data science, statistical methods and AI/ML techniques and algorithms to improve equipment, wafer and factory performance.
  • A good team player and ability to get along with diverse teams local and global.
  • Fluent English verbal/written skills to communicate with 1st level manager and global team
  • Document BKMs and procedures to help develop training material and train the trainer.
