Role Overview
Interactive Brokers Australia Pty. Ltd. (IBA) is expanding its Application Service Group (ASG) within the New Accounts Department at our Sydney office. We are seeking candidates with prior experience in financial services, exceptional attention to detail, and strong communication skills. The ASG team liaises directly with retail and institutional clients.
The ASG is responsible for delivering high-quality client service to sophisticated retail clients, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), financial advisors, hedge fund operators, corporates, and other broker-dealers. Our goal is to facilitate client onboarding, provide account opening guidance, and build long-term relationships as we expand our global service offerings. As part of the ASG, you will be the first and most important impression new clients have of the company.
Responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries and concerns from retail and institutional clients via in-person meetings, phone, email, and online messaging.
- Research and resolve a wide range of client questions related to the account opening process.
- Manage multiple tasks with a strong emphasis on AML and KYC compliance while handling incoming client queries.
- Learn all aspects of the IBA brokerage platform and policies to offer compliant solutions that address client concerns.
- Collaborate with Legal & Compliance, Developers, and Project Managers to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
- Identify, analyze, and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Take personal responsibility for understanding client needs and delivering a high-value experience.
- Work efficiently and independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Coordinate with New Accounts and Risk Assessment teams to evaluate financial crime risks.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2–3 years of experience in client service or financial services preferred. Motivated recent graduates with degrees in Finance, Law, Accounting, or Information Systems will also be considered.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in brokerage or corporate banking preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle client concerns with professionalism and diplomacy.
- Strong research, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and firm initiatives simultaneously.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively while managing multiple responsibilities.
