Job Description

Designs, develops, and documents new products for manufacturing, interfacing with cross-functional teams and customers to analyze market opportunities, set project goals, and achieve objectives. Manages 5-10 projects concurrently with some oversight, establishing targets, organizing timelines, overseeing prototypes, conducting testing, and creating documentation, while focusing on customer satisfaction and project profitability.
Must have:
  • Manage basic design and application work for five to ten projects concurrently.
  • Establish a project target through internal research and customer interaction.
  • Organize the project timeline and action items with cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee fabrication of prototypes, evaluate product fitment, and support vehicle calibration.
  • Conduct design and testing, which may include field testing and operation of vehicles.
  • Create and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and ECN documentation.
  • Track the project to the target and report to management at key milestones.
  • Focus on the needs of the customer and project profitability requirements.
  • Possess engineering design knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Creo/3D modeling or similar CAD design software.
  • Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • BS in Applications Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in product development and hands-on design experience.
Good to have:

Position Summary:

Designs, develops, and documents for the release of new products to manufacturing. Interfaces with cross-functional teams, directly interacting with the customer in order to analyze a market opportunity, create project goals, and accomplish those objectives. Responsible for both customer satisfaction and the financial performance of assigned projects.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages basic design and application work for five to ten projects concurrently.
  • Runs projects with some oversight from management.
  • Some interaction with OEM customers; however, critical communication are reviewed with senior engineers or the management team before release.
  • Establishes a project target both through internal research and customer interaction.
  • Organizes the project timeline and action items which may include a cross-functional design, test, NPI, quality, and manufacturing team.
  • Oversee fabrication of prototypes, evaluate product fitment and support vehicle calibration.
  • Conducts design and testing, which may include field testing and operation of vehicles.
  • Creates and maintains 3d models, 2d drawings, BOM’s and ECN documentation.
  • Tracks the project to the target and reports to management at key milestones.
  • Focuses on the needs of the customer and project profitability requirements of the company.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Engineering design knowledge
  • Creo/3D modeling or similar CAD design software
  • Time management and prioritization abilities
  • Microsoft Office

Position Qualifications:

Education:

BS in Applications Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

3+ years of experience in product development and hands-on design experience.

Experience in automotive, power sports, or related industry preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Office Environment

Ability to sit for long periods of time

Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer
