THE OPPORTUNITY: Associate Merchandise Planner
REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Planning
LOCATION: US - Remote
Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with an office in New York, NY, Birdy Grey supports remote work for eligible roles. We ask that all employees travel to either office once a quarter. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. #LI-Remote
Birdy Grey is looking for a highly analytical Associate Merchandise Planner who will play a crucial role in optimizing our inventory levels and ensuring product availability while effectively executing our pricing and promotion strategies. This position involves collaboration with various cross functional partners to forecast OTB (Open-to-Buy) across multiple diverse categories, and conducting ad hoc research to support informed decision-making.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- OTB Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and execution of Open-to-Buy strategies across multiple product categories, ensuring alignment with sales forecasts and overall business objectives.
- Analyze historical sales data and trends to provide accurate inventory projections and recommendations.
- Pricing and Promotion Strategies:
- Support the execution of pricing strategies and promotional activities to maximize profitability and drive sales growth.
- Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to evaluate the effectiveness of pricing and promotional initiatives, providing insights for improvements.
- Ad Hoc Research:
- Conduct thorough market research and analysis to support planning decisions, identify opportunities for improvement, and evaluate competitive positioning.
- Develop reports and presentations to convey research findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels across categories and work with cross-functional teams to optimize stock levels, minimize excess inventory, and prevent stockouts.
- Assist in the reconciliation and management of inventory discrepancies to ensure accurate data.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with strategy, marketing, finance, and merchandising teams to ensure a cohesive approach to inventory management.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding inventory status, challenges, and opportunities.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree Required
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-5 years of work experience as a Merchandise Planner
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven analytical skills with experience in data analysis and forecasting.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and retail dynamics.
- Proficient in Excel and other data analysis tools; experience with inventory management software is a plus.
- Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform data deep dives to surface actionable insights.
- Proactive problem solver with the ability to troubleshoot and/or escalate issues effectively.
- Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small.
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and take initiative to lead projects.

California Pay Range
$90,000 - $105,000 USD
