Wabtec is seeking a Brake System Engineering Leader for Tenders to represent the company to customers for Metro, Regional, and Locomotive brake system tenders. The role requires strong customer connection, in-depth experience in rolling stock business, and expertise in pneumatic brake systems, friction brakes, and brake control. Responsibilities include leading technical solution preparation, conducting technical reviews, delivering compliant documentation, preparing technical packages, and estimating budgets. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of experience in brake systems and controls within the railway industry, strong communication skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
Must have:
  • Represent Wabtec to customers on Brake System Tenders in Metro, Regional and Locomotive applications.
  • Strong customer connect with metro corporations, RDSO, Indian railways and in-depth experience in rolling stock business and operations.
  • Highly knowledgeable in pneumatic brake system, friction brakes and Brake control in rolling stock industry.
  • Experience in interpreting explicit and implicit customer requirements in technical specifications.
  • Work with Sales team to lead preparation of technical solution for complete brake system.
  • Lead technical reviews with car builders/operators and promote Wabtec solutions.
  • Deliver clause by clause compliant document with valid technical justifications and sign off with customer.
  • Deliver complete technical package with various system level technical documents.
  • Prepare Budget Estimation with quantified risk for project execution in alignment with all functions.
  • Ensure proper handover and sign off technical package and budget with the Project team.
Good to have:
  • Exposure in the areas of RAMS, RoHS, Project management techniques / tools such as APQP, ISO, EMS, OHSAS and IRIS.
  • Work experience in multi-cultural environment with different countries / people.

  • Key missions of the position:
  • Be the representation for Wabtec to all customers on Brake System Tenders in Metro, Regional and Locomotive applications.
  • Strong customer connect with metro corporations, RDSO, Indian railways and in depth experience in rolling stock business and operations
  • Highly knowledgeable in pneumatic brake system, friction brakes and Brake control in rolling stock industry.
  • Experience in interpretating explicit and implicit customer requirements in technical specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Sales team to lead preparation of technical solution for complete brake system, inclusive of air generation, brake control pneumatic and electrical architecture, bogie brakes.
  • Lead technical reviews with car builders /operators and promotion of Wabtec solutions and ensure that all the technical requirements and demands by the Customer are covered by the defined Engineering scope, with identification and assessment of the associated risks.
  • Deliver clause by clause compliant document with valid technical justifications and sign off with customer.
  • Deliver complete technical package with various system level technical documents like Pneumatic scheme, Part list, Full system Electrical scheme, System Technical description, Validation plan in consultation with colleagues in Europe as required.
  • Prepare Budget Estimation with quantified risk for the project execution in alignment with all functions involved (Product engineering, Systems Engineering, Brake control architecture, Bogie brakes architecture, RAMS, Electronics, Software and Customer service). Anchor the budget with Sales.
  • Ensure proper handover and sign off technical package and budget with the Project team.
  • High knowledge on various ICE, EN, UIC standards related to Brake system, validation requirements for metro and EMU application.
  • Preferred exposure in the areas of RAMS, RoHS, Project management techniques / tools such as APQP, ISO, EMS, OHSAS and IRIS.
  • Work experience in muti-cultural environment with different countries / people preferred.

Education/Training

Graduate / Postgraduate in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / or equivalent

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of relevant experience on brake systems & control, from Rolling stock OEMs / Brake system manufacturer / Railway industry
  • Strong communication skills
  • High customer focus
  • Excellent people management skills

Mindset to work in global business environment with interaction with counterparts in Europe.

Key Competences (Transversal/Professional)

Competence: Level

Pneumatic braking systems: Expert (In rolling stock industry)

Railway segment products knowledge: High

Knowledgeable in Brake system interface with Train control system (Electrical, Software): High (In rolling stock industry)

System knowledge for ISO 9001 / ISO 22163 IRIS: Good

Languages :

English, Hindi

Other Specifications:

Good fluency in English language and ability to convince customer is a must.
