AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering III in Denver, CO. The role involves preparing structural designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation structures like bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures. Responsibilities include performing load rating analysis, developing rehabilitation concepts, and conducting structure type analysis evaluations using current engineering design software. The engineer will coordinate with other design teams, gather basic engineering data, and work on detailed assignments involving calculations and tests, providing guidance to entry-level engineers.
Must have:
  • Prepare structural designs, plans, specifications and cost estimate for transportation structures.
  • Provide load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structure type analysis evaluations.
  • Use current engineering design software.
  • Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis techniques including 2D beam and frame analysis; and 3D grid and finite element analysis.
  • Experience in structural steel design, and reinforced and prestressed concrete design.
  • 2D/3D drafting experience on AutoCAD or MicroStation platform (CADD).
  • Understanding of as-built plans of existing structures to analyze certain member types under new loading scenarios.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis programs such as CSi Bridge, MIDAS, RISA and STAAD.
  • Understanding of code/specifications such as AASHTO, AISC, NDS, ACI and other state specific bridge design manuals.
  • Passing the PE Civil: Structural Exam.
  • Proficiency in developing and using Excel and MathCAD as design tools for structures.

Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering III in Denver, CO.

Job details:

  • Prepare structural designs, plans, specifications and cost estimate for transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures.
  • Provide load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structure type analysis evaluations.
  • Use current engineering design software.
  • Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.
  • Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identify discrepancies in results.
  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
  • May telecommute.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.

Position requires:

1. Structural analysis techniques including 2D beam and frame analysis; and 3D grid and finite element analysis.

2. Structural steel design, and reinforced and prestressed concrete design.

3. 2D/3D drafting experience on AutoCAD or MicroStation platform (CADD)

4. Understanding of as-built plans of existing structures to analyze certain member types under new loading scenarios.
