About the role: 

The VFX concept artist is tasked with crafting finely detailed visual direction for the VFX artists while adhering to the technical systems and constraints. From developing static shape and color language to animated sequences, the VFX concept artist has a strong hand in developing the final in game effects

The Quest: 

  • Visual Effects Creation: Conceptualize and illustrate VFX designs, including magical spells, explosions, special attacks, environmental effects, and more.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the art director, game designers, and animators to ensure VFX align with the overall visual style and gameplay requirements. 
  • Storyboards: Develop storyboards and visual concepts to communicate the look and feel of VFX. 
  • Research and Development: Continuously research and stay up-to-date with industry trends and techniques to push the quality and innovation of our VFX. 
  • Documentation: Create clear and concise documentation for implemented visual effects, including specifications, guidelines, and best practices for other team members.
  • Feedback and Iteration: Iterate on visual effects based on feedback from Art Director, leads and other stakeholders to ensure they meet quality standards and enhance the player experience.
  • Efficient time management:Work efficiently to achieve the estimated times for each phase and punctually meet the delivery date.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate  and work closely with other artists to be a problem solver and foresee and communicate on time any quality, technical or delivery issue that may affect the project.
  • Puntuality:Present your progress on a daily basis and/or when requested and assist on time to any meeting, call or communication request.

The Skills: 

  • Strong artistic and creative abilities with a keen eye for detail, color, composition, and animation. Proficiency in 2D art fundamentals. 
  • Have an eye for engaging visuals, understand motion, animation, scaling, and timing. 
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard pipelines and workflows. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate ideas clearly and persuasively. 
  • High level of proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • 2-D Animation skills and experience are a plus. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in the videogame or Animation industry. 

Software Expertise 

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Animate
  • Krita or ToonBoom are optional
  • Unity and Unreal engine are a Plus
