Job Details

We are building the fastest, most powerful customer support platform for the next generation of B2B companies. Some of the world’s most forward-thinking companies, like Stytch, Sanity, and Fly.io, rely on Plain to consolidate all the channels where they speak with customers, collaborate with their teams, and speed up their workflow with our lightning-fast UI.

We’re a small team and have offices in SF and London. This role is based in our SF office with an expectation of 3+ days/week in person.

We do ask for availability starting around 7am PT to sync with our teammates in Europe — yes, it’s early, and yes, we’ll have coffee ready. The bright side is your afternoons are usually quiet and perfect for heads-down, focused work. We totally get that this schedule isn’t ideal for everyone, so we want to be upfront about it from the start.

What you'll do

  • Own the ideation and creation of long-form and short-form written content that speaks directly to our ICPs.

  • Take ownership of our knowledge base, customer onboarding emails and comms, and run full content marketing campaigns end-to-end.

  • Ensure that all our marketing content is optimized for SEO wherever possible.

  • Take the reins on creating customer case studies and customer videos.

  • Work with our Founding Marketer Kate and our Growth Marketer to execute on integrated campaigns targeted at our ICPs.

We think that to be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have experience with (or a strong desire to) building content engines from the ground up.

  • Know your way around SEO, and are comfortable with running experiments end-to-end.

  • Have worked in content marketing at an early stage B2B product before, ideally marketing to a technical audience.

This is a great fit if you…

  • Have a mindset for rigorous experimentation – you measure everything you do.

  • Feel comfortable taking ownership in ambiguity. You don’t wait for work to be given to you, you identify what needs to be done and get it done.

  • Are exceptionally detail-oriented – no typo escapes you and every word you write has a purpose.

  • Are hungry and know when to trade off attention to detail with being scrappy - we don’t have everything figured out yet, and we don’t pretend to. We iterate fast and improve as we go. We want you to be excited to figure things out with us, knowing you’ll have an immediate impact on the company’s growth.

  • Love using a modern tool stack, including Linear, Attio, Notion, Slack, etc. We're building an industry disrupting tool, so we like to use other tools that are doing the same.

This won't be the right role if you…

  • Are uncomfortable with ambiguity. We have some really exciting traction but are still at an early stage and are constantly learning and trying new things as our company grows.

  • Don’t enjoy working with product or engineering. Our marketing team is product driven from start-to-finish.

  • Expect fully-built out foundations, budget for agencies, and so on. This is a very hands-on role – you’ll be building, testing and iterating on everything from scratch.

  • Don’t feel comfortable with video marketing.

  • Expect all the perks of a big company. We’re a Series A startup and are competitive in what we offer at our stage, but it’s a different role and opportunity than working at an established tech company.

Note: We are an equal-opportunity employer. At this time, we can only support hiring within the US for this role.
