About the role

Telstra’s in-house creative agency is seeking a mid-weight Designer to support the design and execution of personalised customer communications in our 1:1 Strategy. This role focuses on translating creative concepts into production-ready assets, ensuring brand consistency and technical accuracy across all CRM touchpoints, including emails, SMS, and push notifications. 

The mid-weight Designer will collaborate closely with Senior Creatives, Copywriters, and Marketing Automation Teams to implement modular design systems, facilitating efficient and personalized customer engagement. This position requires a keen eye for detail, proficiency in design software, and an understanding of CRM and 1:1 best practice. 

Key Responsibilities

In your role you will be focused on elevating creative standards across all touchpoints, including emails, direct mail, in-app and digital campaigns. You will be committed to building a culture of creativity, innovation, and operational efficiency.

Your core responsibilities:

Design Execution & Production 

  • Translate design concepts into finalized artwork, ensuring readiness for deployment across various CRM and 1:1 channel. 
  • Prepare and package design files for development and deployment, adhering to technical requirements and best practices.
  •  Retouch and manipulate images as needed to align with design specifications and enhance visual appeal. 

Brand Consistency & Quality Assurance 

  • Maintain and enforce brand guidelines, ensuring all communications reflect Telstra’s visual identity and tone. 
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on all design assets, identifying and rectifying any inconsistencies or errors. 
  • Adapt existing designs to various formats and layouts, ensuring consistency across different platforms and devices. 

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Work closely with Senior Creatives and Copywriters to ensure cohesive integration of visual and textual elements. 
  • Liaise with Marketing Automation Teams to understand technical constraints and opportunities, optimizing designs accordingly. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • 3–5 years of experience in graphic design or artwork production, preferably within a 1:1or digital CRM environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience with modular design systems and creating assets for personalized customer communications. 
  • Familiarity with email and SMS marketing best practices, including responsive design and accessibility considerations. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools including Figma. 
  • Experience with HTML/CSS for email design is advantageous but not mandatory (build sits outside of this role). 
  • Strong understanding of colour theory, typography, and layout principles. 
  • Ability to prepare files for both digital and print production, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
