This role involves leading a team of automation engineers in designing, architecting, and deploying scalable solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to support the company's critical systems. The position requires deep technical expertise to guide the team in delivering robust and secure solutions, driving an automation-first approach, and collaborating with various teams to integrate the latest technologies. The responsibilities include leading and mentoring an automation engineering team, driving the adoption of modern engineering practices, building and maintaining microservices architectures, collaborating with diverse technical teams, and establishing clear goals to maximize team competency. This role is hybrid, with the expectation of days in the office confirmed by the hiring manager.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in software engineering and architecture

  • Deep understanding of agentic AI and LLMs

Job Description

Visa Inc is looking for a dynamic agentic AI engineering leader to build cutting edge AI tools with a team of automation engineers in Visa’s Global Operations organization.

Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas:


Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Operations within Visa’s Operations and Infrastructure organization, this position is responsible for hands-on design architecture, and deploying scalable, extendable platform solutions that harness the power of LLMs to work alongside our team of exceptional operations staff that manage and maintain our mission critical 24/7/365 systems for Visa’s key products, services, and infrastructure.  

This position plays a key leadership role with deep technical expertise to guide the team of engineers to deliver robust, complex, secure solutions.  This team will drive an automation-first muscle, craft the strategic agentic vision for the Global Operations organization and partner closely with teams across Operations & Infrastructure and Data Platform to incorporate the latest technologies and product offerings within the company. 

We are looking for self-motivated individual who is passionate about GenAI, LLMs, AI/ML that will bring industry leading thought leadership to drive the transformation of Visa's global operations toward AIOps.

You'll have responsibility and accountability to:

  • Lead and mentor a technically strong automation engineering team, fostering best practices in software development (e.g source code repositories/management, design & code reviews, CI/CD).

  • Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, tools and technologies to enhance team productivity and software quality.

  • Build and maintain microservices architectures and APIs, ensuring seamless interoperability and extensibility across a broad range of product portfolios

  • Collaborate with diverse technical teams including Operations, Data Platform AI/ML, Platform as a Service, Product Development and Cyber Security teams to drive forward operational and business requirements into technical solutions

  • Operate as the chief architect for this engineering function, continuously enhancing it to drive AIOps adoption and next generation tooling to increase efficiency, productivity, and precision operation.

  • Train and collaborate with operations staff on the operation of automation systems and tools, and support their implementation, including the development of training material, standard operating procedures, and validation testing.

  • Manage the organization to achieve target scope, schedule, and cost objectives

  • Establish clear, aligned goals and direction, provide candid feedback and coaching to maximize team competency, support career management and development of direct reports

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of relevant work experience in architecture and/or software engineering developing complex solutions.
• Programming languages such as python, java, c# etc
and/or automation software like Ansible, UIPath, automation anywhere,
ActiveBatch, Arago HIRO AI ITSM etc
• Deep understanding of agentic AI, including multi-agent systems, reinforcement learning, and autonomous decision-making
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), cognitive architectures, and human-AI interaction.
• Understanding of HTTP and restful based APIs
• Experience using CI/CD tools to automatically test and deploy code
• Experience adopting agile methodologies that provide structure, discipline and accountability for engineering delivery
• Experience applying systems engineering concepts to complex distributed and mainframe architectures that process high throughput with stringent availability and performance requirements
• Experience with tools and AI agent frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, Microsoft AutoGen.
• Must be a natural collaborator, with excellent verbal, written, and presentation
skills. The individual must be disciplined and comfortable with ambiguity,
possessing the maturity and capability to interact and influence across
multiple levels and organization.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 176,400.00 to 256,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
