OKX is a leading crypto exchange seeking a Director of Physical Security to oversee executive protection, public event security, incident management, crisis response, corporate office security assessments, and vendor management. This strategic and operational role ensures the safety of executives, employees, and corporate assets. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in physical security risk management, corporate security operations, executive protection, and vendor oversight within a fast-paced fintech/cryptocurrency environment. A background in military, law enforcement (USSS), or intelligence is preferred. Responsibilities include developing security strategies, analyzing threat assessments for travel, managing protective security vendors, overseeing event security planning, coordinating emergency response, conducting physical security assessments, and managing security vendor contracts and performance.
Must have:
  • 10+ years experience in corporate security or related field

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Physical Security to lead and oversee all aspects of executive protection, public event security, incident management, crisis response, corporate office security assessments, and vendor management. This role is strategic and operational, ensuring the safety of executives, employees, and corporate assets while managing third-party security vendors responsible for logistics and resource deployment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in physical security risk management, corporate security operations, executive protection, and vendor oversight in a high-risk, fast-paced fintech/cryptocurrency environment.
This role is ideally suited for individuals with a background in military, law enforcement (USSS) or intelligence officer background.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Executive Protection & High-Risk Travel Security
    1. Develop and implement executive security strategies for Global C-suite executives.
    2. Analyze threat assessments and risk analysis for executive travel, both domestic and international.
    3. Manage vendor-provided protective security services, including close protection and secure transportation.
    4. Ensure security protocols align with current threat intelligence and geopolitical risks impacting executive travel.
  2. Public Event Security & Risk Mitigation
    1. Oversee security planning and risk assessment for corporate events, industry conferences, and public engagements.
    2. Coordinate with security vendors to deploy protective measures, crowd management, and access control at high-profile events.
    3. Ensure security plans comply with local regulations, venue security policies, and emergency preparedness protocols.
    4. Act as the primary liaison between the security vendor, law enforcement agencies, and event organizers (internal & external).
  3. Incident Management & Crisis Response
    1. Develop and manage incident response protocols for security threats, including workplace violence/active shooter incidents, cyber-physical threats, natural disasters, etc...
    2. Serve as the Incident Commander in emergency situations, coordinating with internal stakeholders, security vendors, government agencies and law enforcement.
    3. Ensure real-time incident reporting, investigation, and resolution, leveraging vendor resources for immediate response.
    4. Conduct post-incident analysis and implement corrective actions to enhance future security measures.
    5. Investigate site security incidents and provide detailed reports.
  4. Physical Security Risk Assessments & Corporate Office Security
    1. Coordinate with security vendors for physical security assessments of corporate offices, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation threat strategies.
    2. Ensure compliance with security best practices, access control policies, and emergency evacuation procedures.
    3. Oversee security technology implementation, including surveillance systems, intrusion detection, access control integration and training aligned with our global policy, with local threat considerations.
    4. Coordinate with building management, law enforcement, and emergency responders to maintain a secure corporate environment.
  5. Vendor Management & Security Liaison
    1. Act as the primary point of contact for third-party security vendors, ensuring quality, security needs and service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
    2. Manage contract negotiations, performance evaluations, and compliance audits for vendor-provided security services.
    3. Collaborate with the vendor to optimize resource allocation, ensuring efficient deployment of security personnel, technology, logistics and continuous vetting.
    4. Maintain strong relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and global security partners to enhance security posture.

What We Look For in You::

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate security, executive protection, physical security risk management, or a related field.
  • Military, law enforcement (USSS) or intelligence officer background preferred
  • EMT or other medical certifications are preferred.
  • Proven experience and strong knowledge of physical security technologies, access control systems, surveillance solutions, and emergency response protocols.
  • Experience in incident management, crisis response, and business continuity planning
  • Proven ability to manage security vendors and ensure operational compliance.
  • Ability to work under high-pressure conditions, make critical decisions, and respond to emerging threats in real-time.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem solving skills, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working internationally

OKX Statement:
The salary range for this position is $200,355.00 to $300,533.00. The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
