THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Director of Player Insights who is experienced in player research, user research, market research, or consumer insights within the gaming industry.
WHO YOU ARE:
  • Highly skilled storyteller who is capable of concisely walking through the research finding and consumer journey.
  • Understands the gaming ecosystem, with prior experience in development/publishing research activities in preparation for launch.
  • Knowledge of the product lifecycle of videogame titles.
  • Solid presentation skills – able to present to stakeholders at each level.
  • Ability to build a research foundation connecting GUR and Analytics.
  • Analytical: You should be able to work with large data sets, identify trends and patterns, and make strategic recommendations based on your findings.
  • Strategic: You should be able to think critically about market trends, competitor activity, and financial data to develop financial forecasts and make strategic recommendations for the company.
  • Curious: You should have a natural curiosity about the industry and a desire to understand market trends and competitor activity.
  • Detail-oriented: You should have a strong attention to detail, as you will be working with financial data and building financial models.
  • Communicative: You should have strong communication and presentation skills to effectively share your findings and recommendations with cross-functional teams and management.
  • Adaptable: You should be adaptable to changing market conditions and be able to adjust financial forecasts and models accordingly.
  • Proactive: You should be proactive in identifying potential risks or opportunities and making recommendations for improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead and manage player research initiatives, integrating quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Develop frameworks to synthesize data from diverse sources such as GUR, UXR, and behavioral analytics.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, developers, and marketers to ensure effective communication and utilization of player insights.
  • Generate strategic insights to inform product development and market positioning.
  • Present regular reports and recommendations to senior leadership

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in Psychology, Data Science, Market Research, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in player research, user research, or market research within the gaming industry.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (SPSS, R, Python) and data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Deep understanding of gaming industry trends and player behavior.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Deep understanding of gaming industry trends, player behavior, and market dynamics.
  • Experience with live service games and knowledge of their unique research needs across the development pipeline and live service maintenance.
  • Capability to translate research findings into strategic recommendations that influence game design and business decisions.

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
  • The anticipated salary range for Zone 1 (WA) is $197,000 - $306,000 , and for Zone 2 (TX), is $159,000-$240,000. Regardless of zone, the upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, including your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay, and internal equity.
  • In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
