As we continue to grow, we are now looking for a Director of Game Design to join the team in our office in Leamington Spa. 

As the Director of Game Design, you will spearhead the development and execution of our global game design strategy, driving innovation across Kwalee’s entire mobile division. You will lead and manage a talented team, optimising every function to maximise the company’s commercial success. Collaborating closely with mobile studio heads and product teams, you will ensure that every game benefits from a strategic, scalable, and highly profitable design approach.

Responsibilities:

    • Drive innovation by generating creative strategies for new game ideas and concepts.
    • Stay ahead of trends by closely monitoring the market to shape game selection and design.
    • Design addictive, viral, and profitable games that engage and monetise effectively.
    • Collaborate with studio heads to ensure all games are scalable and commercially successful.
    • Develop quick, fun prototypes to test new game ideas.
    • Empower the design team to use no-code tools for autonomous creation and testing.
    • Lead global design operations to maximise efficiency, productivity, and team morale.
    • Support and develop the team with training and professional growth opportunities.
    • Maintain thorough design documentation to support the development process.
    • Ensure smooth game performance by working closely with technical staff.
    • Optimise games for monetisation by partnering with the Director of Game Economy and product teams.
    • Define game mechanics, storylines, and characters to create engaging, fun experiences.
    • Analyse user feedback and game data to improve game versions.
    • Stay current with emerging technologies and software to keep designs cutting-edge.

Requirements:

    • 8-10 years of high-level game design experience with a distinguished career.
    • Proven success across multiple leading studios, showcasing a diverse portfolio.
    • Significant expertise in casual games, with a deep understanding of their unique dynamics.
    • Track record of designing blockbuster games that have surpassed $100 million in revenue.
    • Compelling examples of industry-leading games that demonstrate exceptional design and commercial success.
    • Based in our office in Leamington Spa, following our hybrid model with 4 days per week on-site.
