Job Description

As an Engineering Manager (FE/FS) - Accessibility, you will lead a team of frontend engineers to build accessibility into the core Canva experience. This role involves coaching and mentoring engineers, partnering with accessibility experts, and shaping the roadmap for accessibility features and tools. You will guide the delivery of inclusive, scalable systems, champion engineering quality, and contribute to making Canva the most accessible design tool globally, tackling complex challenges from assistive design features to embedding universal design thinking.
Must have:
  • Lead a team of frontend engineers focused on accessibility.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop engineers.
  • Partner with accessibility subject matter experts.
  • Shape a roadmap for Accessibility Features and Continuous Accessibility tools.
  • Guide delivery of inclusive, scalable systems.
  • Champion engineering quality, team happiness, and sustainable delivery practices.
  • Lead technical reviews, design docs, and contribute code.
  • Strong commercial experience managing frontend engineers and leading impactful teams.
  • Driven significant technical changes as a leader and hands-on contributor.
  • Worked cross-functionally to build scalable solutions.
  • Solid frontend engineering experience.
  • Passion for inclusive design.
  • Value mentorship and feedback.
  • Care about developer experience, performance, and elegant solutions.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Leading a team of frontend engineers focused on building accessibility into the core Canva experience
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers to achieve both team impact and individual growth
  • Partnering closely with accessibility subject matter experts and leads across Product Platform
  • Shaping a roadmap of both Accessibility Features and foundational Continuous Accessibility tools
  • Guiding delivery of inclusive, scalable systems that empower all users — regardless of ability
  • Championing engineering quality, team happiness and inclusive, sustainable delivery practices
  • Leading technical reviews, design docs and contributing code where it counts

About the team

The Accessibility Team sits within the Product Platform Group, helping Canva become the most accessible design tool in the world. We’re tackling deep, complex challenges — from building assistive design features like reading order tools and accessible PDFs, to embedding universal design thinking across the product. It’s work that empowers everyone, everywhere to design with confidence.
