Must have:

  • Over 3 years of experience in the games industry
  • Strong hard surface modeling, sculpting, and texturing skills

Environment Artist

We're looking for an Environment Artist to join our team of content creators, shaping in-games worlds for the future. As an Environment Artist, you will help us take the visual quality of our games to the next level. On a daily basis you will report to the Lead Artist and Project Manager in your team, meeting to review work and discuss progress about project deliveries. We are looking for an accomplished professional with a positive drive.

Responsibilities

  • Create Immersive Environments: Design and develop expansive environments. Building man-made content like props, architecture and modular sets as well as delivering spectacular destruction.
  • Content Planning and Collaboration: Plan level content, estimate production costs, and prototype complex assets, working closely with designers and artists to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Engage in Problem Solving: Collaborate with the team lead and project managers to discuss scope, solve technical and artistic challenges, and adhere to production schedules.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure environments meet quality and technical standards for yourself and the closest team, optimizing performance as necessary.
  • Foster Feedback Culture: Actively seek and provide constructive feedback within the team.
  • Collaborate with External Partners: Work closely with external partners, offering clear briefing, benchmarks, guidance and feedback.
  • Champion Structure and Documentation: Uphold naming conventions and documentation practices for clarity and consistency.
  • Mentor and Support: Guide and support junior team members, fostering their growth and development.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with lighters, level designers, and technical artists to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Innovate and Share Knowledge: Contribute to developing future tools through testing, feedback and sharing knowledge and best practices with the art team.

Requirements

  • Experienced Professional: Over 3 years of experience in the games industry.
  • Artistic Excellence: Strong abilities in hard surface modeling, sculpting, and texturing, with an excellent eye for interpreting reference, direction, and concept art, from broad strokes to fine details.
  • Task Breakdown Skills: Capable of transforming high-level direction into actionable tasks for yourself and junior artists.
  • Real-World Understanding: You understand how environments work in real-life and have an expert grasp of technical aspects
  • Proficient Tool User: Skilled in industry-standard tools and workflows, such as Maya and Substance.
  • Proficient in Game Engines: Experienced with leading real-time game engines like Frostbite or Unreal.
  • Technically Passionate: Enthusiastic about the technical aspects of content creation, eager to explore new workflows and tools.
  • Adaptable Problem Solver: Demonstrates adaptability and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
