As Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting requirements increase around the world, this will be an important role within the Haleon’s Sustainability team, supporting our need to meet ESG reporting expectations and requirements.
We are looking for an ESG Global Risk & Controls Owner in our ESG Programme and Reporting function to run the activities within the ESG Controllership team for the the establishment of the ESG reporting operating model against the backdrop of rising ESG reporting requirements and following this, the transition into business-as-usual operations.
Acting at senior manager level, this role will include leading on the identification, analysis and evaluation of ESG reporting risks and maintenance of standardised process and control documentation. It will require engagement with various functions involved in ESG Reporting and beyond to enhance the Group’s ESG reporting (non-financial reporting) control environment in preparation for limited assurance.
Key responsibilities
- The identification, analysis and evaluation of ESG reporting operating model risks through the creation and maintenance of the ESG Reporting Risk Register and the Annual Risk & Control Testing Plan;
- Collaborating with various teams across Haleon to implement processes and controls that ensure accurate and reliable ESG reporting;
- Ensuring minimum control standards are maintained and all associated documentation (Internal Control Framework, Basis of Preparation, RACM, etc.) is maintained appropriately, both for internal use and to support the external assurance process;
- Ensuring that there is alignment between Haleon’s ESG Reporting minimum control standards and those which have been established within the Finance function.
- Providing recommendations, subject matter expertise and training on minimum control standards; and data quality and evidence expectations to the teams and individuals responsible for: (i) the operation of the process; and (ii) the design and operation of the associated control environment.
- Ensuring new and / or amended quantitative ESG reporting requirements are understood and their impact assessed, to ensure that existing processes and minimum control standards are extended or adapted, as appropriate.
- Partnering with the Technology team to support the implementation of new ESG data platforms and build control requirements.
Qualifications and skills
Essential
- Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting and one of the relevant professional qualifications: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIA or equivalent (could be still in progress).
- Minimum 5 year of experience within an international corporate company in internal controls, external or internal audit and/or risk management (preferred BIG4 experience).
- Experience of establishing and managing processes and control frameworks. Understanding of governance requirements.
- Fluent in English (minimum C1).
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, user of analytical tools / technology.
- Experience in performing risk assessment for the design of internal controls and governance.
- Project Management experience.
- Experience of interacting at a senior level with multiple stakeholders across global matrixed organization and take decisions in challenging situations in line with role responsibilities
- Being results-oriented and focused on the big picture, with superior attention to detail.
Preferred
- Recognized ESG qualifications.
- International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management.
- Knowledge and experience of ESG reporting and regulatory requirements (incl. CSRD, ISSB, SEC Climate).
- Experience of key systems: EHS One, Workday, SAP, disclosure platforms and Microsoft Azure products.
