Haleon, a new world-leading consumer health company, is seeking an ESG Operations Lead to join its Sustainability team. This role is crucial for meeting increasing ESG reporting requirements globally. The lead will manage activities within the ESG Controllership team, ensuring alignment with other functions, assessing new reporting requirements, executing process monitoring, and coordinating external assurance of ESG metrics. The position involves enhancing the Group’s ESG reporting control environment in preparation for limited assurance.
Must have:
  • Driving alignment between the ESG Controllership team and other functions involved in ESG reporting.
  • Executing the Annual Risk & Control Testing Plans.
  • Performing end-to-end process risk assessments and control deficiencies analysis.
  • Providing recommendations and trainings related to data quality and evidence expectations.
  • Ensuring new and/or amended ESG reporting requirements are understood and impact assessed.
  • Reviewing initial drivers for change analysis over key ESG metrics.
  • Being the Single Point of Contact for the management and coordination of internal audit and external assurance of ESG metrics.
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting and relevant professional qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in internal controls, external or internal audit and/or risk management.
  • Fluent in English (minimum C1).
  • Experience of monitoring control processes and/or data validation, preferably with non-financial and ESG reporting.
Good to have:
  • Recognized ESG qualifications.
  • International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of ESG reporting and regulatory requirements (incl. CSRD, ISSB, SEC Climate).
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience of key systems: EHS One, Workday, SAP, disclosure platforms and Microsoft Azure products.

About the role

As Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting requirements increase around the world, this will be an important role within the Haleon’s Sustainability team, supporting our need to meet ESG reporting expectations and requirements.

We are looking for an ESG Operations Lead in our ESG Programme and Reporting function to run the activities within the ESG Controllership team during the establishment of the ESG reporting operating model against the backdrop of rising ESG reporting requirements and following this, the transition into business-as-usual operations.

Their role will include ensuring the alignment between the ESG Controllership team and other functions, assessing new reporting requirements against existing practices. It also involves executing process monitoring, managing external assurance of ESG metrics, and coordinating necessary reporting changes.

It will require engagement with various functions involved in ESG Reporting to enhance the Group’s ESG reporting (non-financial reporting) control environment in preparation for limited assurance.

Key responsibilities

  • Driving alignment between the ESG Controllership team and other functions involved in ESG reporting.
  • Responsible for executing the Annual Risk & Control Testing Plans which includes communicating significant issues and areas of exposure to Function Leads and Global Sustainability team.
  • Performing end-to-end process risk assessments and control deficiencies analysis to identify high areas of exposure, support in root cause analysis and investigation, review and align with the process owners on remediation plans and actions to reduce risks or resolve deficiencies.
  • Providing recommendations and trainings related to data quality and evidence expectations.
  • Responsible for ensuring new and or amended ESG reporting requirements are understood and impact assessed against Haleon’s existing reporting. This includes coordinating with the business and the Global Risk & Control Owner to:
  • Identity whether changes would be required to existing Basis of Preparations
  • Ensure that the business understands and makes the applicable changes to existing Basis of Preparations or create new Basis of Preparation , as required
  • Ensure that any changes to the reporting process are understood and risk assessed.
  • Reviewing initial drivers for change analysis over key ESG metrics.
  • Being the Single Point of Contact for the management and coordination of the internal audit and external assurance of ESG metrics and underlying data and evidence.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting and one of the relevant professional qualifications: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIA or equivalent (could be still in progress).
  • Minimum 3 year of experience within an international corporate company in internal controls, external or internal audit and/or risk management.
  • Fluent in English (minimum C1).
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, user of analytical tools / technology.
  • Experience of monitoring control processes and / or data validation, preferably with non-financial and ESG reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and support decision-making in challenging situations.
  • Results-oriented mindset, with a focus on overall objectives while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Recognized ESG qualifications.
  • International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management.
  • ESG reporting and regulatory requirements (incl. CSRD, ISSB, SEC Climate).
  • Project Management experience.
