Job Description

This freelance position requires an expert subtitle translator and QC specialist to translate English content into Canadian French for the TV and movie industry. The ideal candidate possesses native Canadian French fluency, extensive knowledge of English, and proven experience in subtitling localization, including translation, QC, and metadata localization. A deep understanding of subtitling nuances, adherence to best practices for subtitles and dub audio creation, and familiarity with closed captioning are essential. Proficiency in subtitle editing software (EZTitles, OOONA) and CAT tools (SDL Trados, MemoQ, or similar) is mandatory. The role demands high attention to detail, strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) is required.

Must Have:

Familiarity with closed captioning and its technical challenges
Confidence and experience with subtitle editing software (EZTitles, OOONA) and web/cloud technology
Proficient in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, such as SDL Trados, MemoQ, or similar platforms.
Demonstrated ability to leverage CAT tools for enhanced translation efficiency, consistency, and collaboration within a team.
Great attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment
