Job Description

Join Marvell's ODSP PHY SW Team as an intern to work on DSP Networking Chips for optical communication links, forming the backbone of internet data infrastructure. You will develop embedded C firmware, C & Python test code, and contribute to mission-critical features for top-tier cloud customers. This role offers hands-on experience in the full software development cycle, infrastructure management, regression planning, and debugging complex issues, utilizing Linux, Windows, Jenkins, Git, and scripting.
Good To Have:
  • Knowledge of git, Linux, Makefiles, GDB, IDEs, and bash
  • Understanding of DSP concepts (Equalizers, Filters, ADC, DAC, FFE, DFE)
Must Have:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Anticipated graduation date between Winter 2026 and Spring 2027
  • Strong programming skills in C and Python
  • Software development experience on embedded firmware environments
  • Understanding the fundamentals of computer architecture
  • Understanding of fundamental Networking from the OSI model, with emphasis on the PHY up to the data link level
  • Curious and driven to learn more about this complicated field

ODSP PHY SW Team works on Marvell's DSP Networking Chips used in Optical Communication links. These chips form the backbone of internet, moving data within data centers, between data centers, cities and continents over high BW optical fibers. SW team owns all the SW components for the chips, including Embedded FW, Customer SDK, lab scripts and GUI applications to interface with the chips. This team is a critical part of the product development flow from initial lab bring-up to field deployment and is the go-to group for getting things done, whether in the field or the lab. Marvell's DSPs are used in 100G to 1.6T optical modules in every major cloud data center around the world. Even the data used for this job description has travelled through many of Marvell's DSPs to reach your computer, and our products are a key part of the biggest AI clusters that power all the latest generative AI projects.

What You Can Expect

As an intern with the ODSP PHY SW team, you will:

  • Develop embedded C firmware for controlling extremely complicated DSP hardware
  • Develop C & Python test code for utilities, GUIs, regression, and simulation infrastructure
  • Take an idea from concept through design, review, implementation, test, and release to customers
  • Work on mission critical features for top tier cloud customers
  • Debug difficult issues, drive to root causes with hardware/software teams, and follow up with Jira tickets to get bugs resolved

What We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields with an anticipated graduation date between Winter 2026 and Spring 2027

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

34 - 68, $ per hour.

The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
