Job Description

The Forklift Operator I is responsible for the efficient movement of materials, from raw inventory to production lines and back to finished goods storage. This role involves maintaining accurate paperwork and production records, ensuring that production departments receive necessary materials according to schedule. Key duties include banding, wrapping, and packing finished goods, organizing the inventory yard, and performing general preventive maintenance on equipment. The operator must also complete pre-shift checklists and adhere to all company forklift rules and safety policies.
Must have:
  • Operate forklift for material movement
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and production records
  • Provide production departments with material
  • Band, wrap, and pack finished goods
  • Move finished goods to inventory
  • Complete pre-shift equipment checklist
  • Maintain organized and clean inventory yard
  • Follow forklift rules and policies
  • Minimum 9th grade basic education
  • Successfully complete Forklift Driver licensing process
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Good to have:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Forklift driving experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic math and inventory techniques preferred

Job Summary

Forklift Operator I is responsible for the movement of material from inventory to production and back to inventory. Maintains correct paperwork and production records as required. Provides production departments with material from inventory according to production schedule.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Moves material in process from one station to another if necessary
  • Bands, wraps and/or packs finished goods, and labels material
  • Moves finished goods from production area to finished goods inventory yard or warehouse
  • Assist production with bottlenecks and other material needs
  • Provides general preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Completes pre-shift startup equipment checklist and reports any problems or concerns
  • Maintains rough material and finished goods inventory yard organized and clean
  • Completes production records as required
  • Follows forklift rules and policies as described by Company policy
  • Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 9th grade basic education, High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
  • No minimum experience is required however, forklift driving experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic math and inventory techniques preferred
  • Successfully complete Forklift Driver licensing process
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $19.00 to $20.00 hourly dependent on experience*

*pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living

Bonus/Incentive Pay (appropriate item below would be inserted based on the job):

1. For sales positions: The percentage of incentive compensation that may be earned varies based on the customer account classification and is calculated based on collected gross profit.

2. For salaried bonus positions: Annual performance bonus opportunity based on Company and specific business unit ROI and PBOP achievement criteria and individual job responsibility and performance.

3. For hourly positions with incentive pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
