REALTIME is seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Environment TD for a unique full CG Production project, bridging their Games and Automotive teams. The role requires strong artistic and technical skills to develop Houdini tools, create photorealistic environments, and problem-solve workflows. The candidate will collaborate with Supervisors and Department Heads to define methodologies and guide the team creatively and technically.
Must have:
  • Produce high-quality assets suitable for production both technically and artistically
  • Support a team of artists with technical problem-solving and tool creation
  • Perform technical and quality control of output on assigned projects
  • Ensure assets meet specifications from all relevant departments
  • Manage feedback and technical challenges with CG Supervisor and Department Heads
  • Work closely with Department Head to identify process improvements/tools
  • Thorough knowledge of Houdini
  • Previous experience of working in a USD workflow
  • Knowledge of Python and VEX
Good to have:
  • Generalist knowledge of other asset creation software like Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter
  • Knowledge of Speedtree, World Machine, Gaea
  • Basic understanding of Lighting and Look Development
  • Good communication skills and ability to work interactively
  • Ability to feedback to other departments and direct technical changes

REALTIME is on the lookout for an experienced Senior Environment TD for a very unique project that bridges the gap between our Games and Automotive teams on a freelance basis.

The role is best suited for someone who has great artistic ability and technical knowledge in order to develop Houdini tools that fit seamlessly into the Houdini pipeline. The candidate will have to be hands-on in creating a photorealistic environment as well problem-solving workflows for the rest of the environment team.

You will work alongside our Supervisors and Department Heads to identify the methodology and requirements needed to achieve the desired look for the project, as well as help guide the team at a creative and technical level.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Producing high-quality assets suitable for production both technically and artistically
  • Supporting a team of artists with any technical problem-solving and tool creation
  • Technical and quality control of output on assigned project
  • Ensuring assets meet specifications provided by all relevant departments
  • Managing feedback and technical challenges on the project alongside the CG Supervisor and Department Heads
  • Working closely with the Department Head to identify process improvements/tools to increase department productivity

REQUIREMENTS

  • Accomplished examples of Modelling, Texturing, and Shading
  • Thorough knowledge of Houdini is essential
  • Previous experience of working in a USD workflow.
  • Generalist knowledge of other asset creation software etc Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter.
  • Knowledge of Python, and VEX is essential
  • Knowledge of Speedtree, World Machine, Gaea, etc is desirable
  • Basic understanding of Lighting and Look Development
  • Good communication skills and ability to work interactively with production and other departments to solve production challenges
  • Ability to feedback to other departments and direct any technical changes
