Freelance Senior FX Artist - Short term

REALTIME is on the lookout for an experienced Senior FX Artist specialising in water for a unique project that bridges the gap between our Games and Automotive teams on a freelance basis.

The role is ideal for someone with a strong artistic vision and technical expertise to create realistic water simulations and develop Houdini tools that integrate seamlessly into our pipeline. You will be hands-on in producing photorealistic water effects, while also troubleshooting and optimising workflows for the rest of the FX team.

You will work closely with our Supervisors and Department Heads to define the methodology and requirements needed to achieve the desired look for water sequences, as well as help guide the team at both a creative and technical level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and execute complex water simulations using Houdini, ensuring high-quality results that align with the artistic vision.
• Optimise simulations to maintain performance without compromising visual fidelity.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to FX.
• Quality control of output on the assigned project.
• Managing feedback and technical challenges on the project alongside the CG Supervisor and Department Heads

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven experience creating realistic water simulations in Houdini.
• Previous experience working within a USD workflow.
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and visual effects principles.
• Good communication skills and ability to work interactively with production and other departments to solve production challenges
• Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to provide feedback to other departments and direct any technical changes
