💻 Role

Ads is a growing engineering team at Whatnot that is dedicated to building systems & features to help Sellers grow their business. As a software engineer on the Ads team, the most important qualities you'll need are making sound product decisions, navigating new domains seamlessly, taking extreme ownership, and shipping high-quality products fast. We always prioritize the highest impact features and ship them quickly. The software team has a lot of individual responsibility and many more freedoms, so we need to hire people we can trust. Your ability to put customers first, make good trade-offs and deliver impact is essential to us. 

In this role, you will…

• Build highly scalable Ads system that handles all aspects of running an online advertising system and helps sellers differentiate themselves on Whatnot
• Focus on the web-based aspects of ad flows and the ad dashboard, with occasional backend work
• Maintain web apps, develop new features and potentially work around infrastructure.
• Understand our buyer and seller experiences and become an expert in helping them effectively scale their business through ads & monetization products

Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our Kraków, Poland hub.

As our next Fullstack Engineer you should have 5+ years of experience, particularly an expert in frontend web development with React, using GraphQL for API development, and modern frontend applications. Exposure to Next.js framework is not required but preferred. You also:

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Have a strong understanding of user-facing frontend and UX
• Are open to doing backend work when required
• Have excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution
• Have a proven track record of delivering features end-to-end and can ship products and features lightning-fast without sacrificing quality
• Are a project owner - you have strong ownership instincts and can own projects from inception to production and beyond 
• Have the ability to pick up on new technologies very quickly
• Have experience with complex web based tooling like dashboards (nice to have)
• Have startup experience at a high-growth company (nice to have) 
• Have experience with ads systems, infrastructure, experiences, and international commerce (nice to have)
