This Edge AI and Display Hardware Architecture Development Engineering Internship involves working with the Edge AI computer and Display HW architecture team. Responsibilities include developing and validating performance, power, and other key metrics for next-generation SoC Subsystems, focusing on signal processing, machine learning, and ultra-low-power processing. The intern will apply software engineering concepts to model, simulate, debug, and analyze architectures, collaborating with various teams to drive analysis and document findings.
Must have:
  • Define, document, and implement performance models with hardware architecture teams.
  • Collaborate with SoC architects, hardware, and software teams to evaluate new features and understand design tradeoffs.
  • Analyze simulation results to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements.
  • Present analysis results and provide recommendations.

General Summary:

As a Qualcomm System Engineering Intern you will work as a member of the Edge AI computer and Display HW architecture team and be responsible for developing and validating performance, power, and other key metrics for next generation SoC Subsystems. These sub-systems address a wide array of applications for signal processing, machine learning, and ultra-low-power processing. Candidates should have an acute interest in both HW design and computer architecture, and an ability to apply SW engineering concepts to model, simulate, debug, and analyze key performance indices of next generation architectures. Candidates should have strong communication skills and be able to collaborate among multiple teams to find solutions, drive analysis, and document findings.

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Working with the hardware architecture teams to define, document and implement performance models

• Collaborate with SoC architects, hardware, and software teams to evaluate new features and understand design tradeoffs.

• Analyze simulation results to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements.

• Present analysis results and provide recommendations.

Minimum Qualification:

• Strong analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills are mandatory

• Able to solve algorithmic problems independently

• Digital hardware design, RTL HDL design (Verilog, VHDL)

• Programming and scripting (C/C++, Python)

• HW modeling and simulation

• Strong presentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Computer and processor architectures

• Machine learning

• DRAM sub-systems, SoC bus fabrics, arbitration, network-on-chip

• Digital signal processing

• Digital HW CAD tools

Educational Requirements:

  • In study towards a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field
  • Eligible candidates must have a graduation date in December 2027 or later, including May or June 2028.
  • For 16-month internships: must be available May 2026 - August 2027
