What does a Global Production Operations Director do?

The Global Production Operations Director is a pivotal leadership role within StudioX, responsible for optimizing all aspects of production for the TCCC account from an operational standpoint. This strategic visionary will leverage deep expertise in the end-to-end production lifecycle to architect and drive the successful, flawless execution of complex, multi-market initiatives, ensuring exceptional quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction across the entire TCCC global account.

This role demands a deep understanding of modern production principles and foundational best practices. You will collaborate extensively across the WPP network, including regional and global leadership, to analyze, solve, and present viable strategic production roadmaps and solutions, actively identifying new work streams and leveraging StudioX's vast capabilities.

Thriving in a flexible, fast-paced global environment, the Ops Director will possess strong commercial acumen, superior problem-solving skills, and exceptional relationship-building capabilities. You will serve as a global ops leader, enabling adoption of innovative tech & tools within production teams, championing groundbreaking creative work, and demonstrating a passion for operational efficiency and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to complex global challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Production Operations Leadership & Strategy:

The Global Production Ops Director is responsible for stewarding the implementation and ongoing growth of Production Pods, the TCCC/StudioX networked production platform established through a dedicated team of producers to deliver a modern, streamlined content production approach in managing marketing campaigns across all categories. The Pods transform the production process and will enhance production stewardship across the experience loop, enabling greater integration of tech & tools, making our production teams stronger and better strategic partners across all forms of creative to deliver powerful work at scale and with the highest craft standards, with efficiency, effectiveness and speed.

  • Act as a strategic and informational nexus, fostering key connectivity between primary production and adaptation, global & local (OU), and all partner op co’s
  • Globally optimize primary production processes, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency across all content types and channels.
  • Partner with WPP team leadership and agencies to strategically engage with our most senior global clients/partners through OpenX, developing, sustaining, and significantly growing the scope of StudioX production across both organic growth and new business opportunities.
  • Engage with global teams and partners to gain a comprehensive understanding of their objectives and requirements, collaborating to define the scope and production strategy for complex global programs and requests.
  • Actively support and foster adoption among production teams of transformative production practices, including automation, understanding how AI will transform production
  • Operationally support applying best practices across all marketing channels – from film and broadcast to social, digital, and shopper experiences.
  • Curate and cast the most appropriate global production teams through thoughtful resource and capacity planning, in close collaboration with OpenX partners and regional StudioX production leads.
  • Leverage Hogarth’s unparalleled global production network to ensure the most efficient, effective, and profitable production services are delivered, consistently meeting and exceeding the client’s global needs.
  • Partner with agencies and clients to be highly sensitive to the client's global needs and concerns, while expertly managing expectations and providing strategic pushback where appropriate.
  • Find opportunities to streamline process operationally

Client Engagement & Partnership:

  • Serve as the primary production operations liaison for key global clients, ensuring their production needs are met with excellence and strategic foresight.

Financial Management & Commercial Acumen:

  • Drive global financial health through strong commercial acumen, accurate revenue forecasting and strategic collaboration with WPP agencies to identify growth opportunities within existing client work

Cross-Functional & Inter-Agency Collaboration:

  • Foster strong partnerships and deep collaboration across internal teams, clients, and global partners (including third parties, regional offices, and agencies).
  • Develop and maintain high team effectiveness (trust, communication, collaboration, productivity, diversity, engagement) across diverse global teams.
  • Effectively navigate conflicting priorities across global teams and agencies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with key global stakeholders and clients.

Global Team Development:

  • Empower global teams to successfully execute and drive results in a fast-paced environment across varied project types and time zones
  • Review global team structure and resources on an ongoing basis to ensure high-quality delivery, quality, and service for our clients, while appropriately maintaining agreed profitability.
  • Supervise and offer support even to those you do not directly manage, fostering a collaborative and supportive global production community.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within a complex, global production environment, with a significant focus on primary production from an operational standpoint.
  • Confidently works as an integrator that drives flawless global execution for major brands with multiple subsidiaries, leveraging strong cross-functional collaboration to integrate and scale great work.
  • Experience with complex strategic and planning processes at a global scale.
  • Commercially focused with a passion for delivering and exceeding results in a global context.
  • Highly entrepreneurial, capable of galvanizing people and coalescing processes in fluid and dynamic work environment; comfortable and thriving in uncharted territory
  • Ability to rally diverse global teams, and extensive experience in driving change and governance through cross-functional teams with internal and external constituencies.
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully working within a virtual and geographically distributed team environment.
  • Ability to conduct presentations comfortably to large, diverse groups, including senior leadership and global clients.
  • Quality and delivery focused.
