About the Role 

Reporting to the VP of Tech, the Head of Data leads the Data Team and as such owns the approach and implementation for any data focused delivery and is responsible for keeping the data-ecosystem operating to meet service agreements and commitments. DTG itself designs, develops and delivers technology and data driven solutions for colleagues across WildBrain using a mixture of in-house built and commercial (typically SaaS) solutions to meet the customers visions and objectives. This role leads the provision of data skillsets, setting the directional strategy and lifecycle, approach for our data landscape, standards and best practice, and supporting their colleagues to work within collaborative and high performing multi-skilled teams. This role leads a mixture of data skillsets (encompassing Data Analytics, Data Science, Data Management).

Job Description

  • Responsible for creating a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone DTG ensuring that everybody feels supported to be their authentic self, is able to grow.
  • Work with the other members of the DTG Leadership Team to transform DTG into a high performing, learning culture.
  • Line Management of the Data Job Family, including undertaking 1:1’s, role development, performance management.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, retention, training, coaching, and career development of data role holders within DTG.
  • Ensuring that the data team delivers high-quality, reliable, scalable solutions on schedule.
  • Working closely with product management to align data activities with prioritised business deliverables.
  • Implementing processes and tools to increase the productivity and efficiency of the data team.
  • Responsible for defining data lifecycle activities and being ultimately accountable for the delivery of the data capability to meet the agreed roadmap.
  • Accountable for data ownership governance and maintains the data standards, policies and principles.
  • Evaluates and proposes how the effective and efficient data quality targets are achieved.
  • Tracks and assesses our data legacy position and promotes priority activities to reduce as required.
  • Engage with external product suppliers, vendors and delivery partners. Including holding them to account on compliance with governance, standards and best practices

Qualifications

  • The strategic vision to create, change and develop a growing data practice focused on outcomes
  • Experience of running multinational, distributed data teams at scale
  • Experience of reviewing, recommending and creating change across a geographically dispersed organisation
  • Experience at managing numerous, diverse stakeholders, often operating under tight timescales and managing numerous competing priorities to successful outcomes.
  • Experience working directly with on and offshore delivery teams to create and refine changes.
  • Prior experience working within a data function such as a Head of Data, Data Manager, Insights Manage, Lead Data Analyst, Lead Data Scientist, Lead Data Engineer; having worked with mixed-skillset teams.
  • A passion for data, its use and how data can be used to shape the future.
  • Must have experience using GCP, SQL, Python and an understanding of AWS
