Job Description

This role is for a Head of Systems Department at Thales, located on the Vélizy campus in France, with a hybrid work model. The position is crucial in a context of strong growth, transitioning from ammunition maintenance to developing new products, weapons, and systems. The department head will integrate into the technical competence center's management team, ensuring product development throughout the lifecycle, respecting deadlines and costs, and mastering product configuration. Key responsibilities include developing team skills and leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance competitiveness and accelerate time to market.

In a context of strong activity growth and the evolution from ammunition maintenance to the development of new products, new ammunition, new weapons, and new systems, a systems engineering department is being created to meet the domain's competitiveness challenges by accelerating time to market and reducing our costs.

The department head therefore plays a key role in the organization to provide solutions by integrating into the technical competence center (CCT) management team.

To successfully carry out their missions, the head of the systems department will be accompanied by all the necessary skills to master the products, as well as the "delivery," i.e., respecting deadlines and cost commitments to satisfy all stakeholders: client, industrial, program, and business.

Your profile

Do you have the ambition to be a manager, leader, coach recognized for making your employees succeed individually and collectively?

Are you capable of integrating and even anticipating the different elements of your environment to guide the team through the challenges raised by competitiveness?

You have a BAC+5 engineering school degree with a specialization in the defense and/or aeronautics field and have experience in:

  • Systems engineering, engineering processes (Waterfall, V-model development, and agile methods);
  • A Lean Management approach and the application of Agile principles to the management and development of your team, in Scrum and/or Kanban mode;
  • Developments based on data models, simulation, IVVQ, RAMST, pyrotechnics.
