Job Description

Wabtec Corporation is seeking an HVAC Service Technician in Eagle Farm, Australia. This role involves promoting HSE & Quality compliance, executing HVAC maintenance/repairs according to specifications, completing documentation, and maintaining customer relationships. The technician will contribute to weekly planning, mentor junior technicians, conduct meetings, ensure equipment maintenance, and drive continuous improvement. The position requires a commitment to quality, safety, and environmental standards, with potential for domestic or international travel.
Must have:
  • Promote, lead by example and ensure compliance of HSE & Quality practices
  • Ensure the execution of HVAC maintenance/repairs is in accordance with relevant work instructions, manuals and test specification
  • Ensure all work documentation packs are completed in full
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders and customer contacts
  • Key contributor to develop a weekly plan and directly responsible for the delivery of production requirements
  • Mentor and guide technicians with technical knowledge, workshop process and procedures
  • Conduct meetings i.e. visual board, production, toolbox and be responsible for ensuring the action and/or escalation of all matters/issues that arise
  • Ensure all plant, tooling and equipment is serviced, calibrated and good working order
  • Promote and lead by example with continuous improvement, lean and 5S initiatives
  • Take ownership of responsibilities and actively contribute towards the achievement of business performance goals, delivery timeframes and customer satisfaction
  • Willing to work outside or beyond normal hours to support business requirements
  • Domestic or International travel may be required
  • Commitment to Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements
  • Perform other related duties as required to support business requirements
  • HVAC and Refrigeration trade qualification
  • Full ARCtick refrigerant handling license
  • Full C class driver’s license
  • Attention to detail
  • Work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good time management skills
Good to have:
  • Formal leadership or management qualification
  • An understanding of the rail industry framework & related technical issues that arise
  • Previous experience completing overhaul, repairs and testing of rollingstock HVAC equipment installed on Passenger or Locomotive rollingstock
  • Demonstrable application of LEAN methodologies within a production environment
  • Currently Hold/Willing to obtain - Forklift, First Aid, Fire Warden, SARC, RIW, Work safely at height

Key activities may include:

  • Key contributor to develop a weekly plan and directly responsible for the delivery of production requirements in conjunction with the Field Service Team Leader and Production Coordinator;
  • Mentor and guide technicians with technical knowledge, workshop process and procedures;
  • Conduct meetings i.e. visual board, production, toolbox and be responsible for ensuring the action and/or escalation of all matters/issues that arise;
  • Ensure all plant, tooling and equipment is serviced, calibrated and good working order in accordance with relevant requirements;
