As an Immersive Docent at HERO, you will play a pivotal role in creating memorable and authentic interactions for guests visiting the reSound New York multisensory art exhibit. Your responsibilities encompass engaging visitors, providing captivating storytelling, and assisting with critical operational functions such as guest flow, ticketing, and maintaining the pristine condition of the exhibit spaces. You will ensure guest safety and satisfaction, contributing significantly to the overall success and immersive experience of the institution.
Must have:

  • Ensure guest and staff safety by following emergency protocols and responding promptly to incidents.
  • Support artwork preservation by monitoring guest interactions, preventing damage, and reporting irregularities.
  • Provide guest service focused on safety, communicating exhibition guidelines and visitor conduct.
  • Adjust performance based on guest reactions, needs, and changes in storyline or environment.
  • Imaginative mindset for developing engaging interactions, storytelling techniques, and backstories.
  • Excellent verbal communication for effectively engaging with guests and conveying the narrative.
  • Genuine passion for immersive entertainment and a commitment to creating memorable experiences.
Good to have:
  • Previous experience in immersive entertainment, interactive exhibits, or museums.
  • Museum Experience Preferred

Who are we?

HERO is a premium experiential brand for the next era of immersive storytelling brought to you behind the minds of MATTE Projects. Located within the heart of Rockefeller Center, we are a fully tech-enabled, plug-and-play physical space designed for immersive entertainment and brand experiences. This fall we are partnering with Korean arts company d’strict to present an innovative multisensory art exhibit called reSound New York. This will be the first time the experience is coming to the United States after its successful debut in Seoul, South Korea.

About this Role:

As a Docent, your role is to engage with our guests and to create memorable and authentic interactions that enhance their overall experience in addition to assisting with operations, hospitality, ticketing, maintenance etc.

Additional responsibilities extend to critical operational and hospitality functions. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with guest flow and crowd management, ensuring a welcoming and hospitable environment, and efficiently handling ticketing and admissions. Furthermore, you will contribute to the general maintenance and upkeep of the exhibit spaces, ensuring they remain pristine and engaging for all visitors. Your multifaceted contributions are vital to the success of our institution and the satisfaction of our guests.

  • Dynamic Engagement: Interact with guests, providing personalized experiences and useful information while consistently staying in character.
  • Captivating Storytelling: Enhance the narrative through anecdotes, secrets, and guided quests to entertain and engage the audience.
  • Agile Improvisation: Respond to unexpected situations and guest interactions with quick wit and creativity to maintain freshness and engagement.
  • Guest Well-being and Satisfaction: Prioritize guest safety, enjoyment, and overall satisfaction throughout the immersive experience.
  • Seamless Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues, staff, and technical personnel to coordinate activities, ensure narrative continuity, and facilitate smooth operations.
  • Ensure guest and staff safety by following established emergency protocols and promptly responding to incidents, accidents, or hazards within the exhibit space.
  • Support the preservation of artwork and exhibit assets by monitoring guest interactions, preventing accidental damage, and reporting irregularities to management promptly.
  • Provide guest service with a strong focus on safety, combining hospitality with clear communication of exhibition guidelines and visitor conduct.

Qualifications:

To create unforgettable immersive experiences, candidates should possess:

  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust performance based on guest reactions, needs, and changes in the storyline or environment.
  • Creativity: A crucial imaginative mindset for developing engaging interactions, storytelling techniques, and backstories.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication is essential for effectively engaging with guests and conveying the narrative.
  • Enthusiasm: A genuine passion for immersive entertainment and a commitment to creating memorable experiences.
  • Experience (Advantageous): Previous experience in immersive entertainment, interactive exhibits, or museums is a plus, but not always required.
  • Museum Experience Preferred

Hourly Rate: $23.50-$25.00/hr, part-time.
