Job Description
Development is the largest discipline at Endava. Our developers design, build, and release software products in multiple programming languages, frameworks, and libraries. Always collaborating with cross-functional project teams, our developers are adaptable problem-solvers with a client-oriented mindset.
A Development Consultant understands the technical landscape of IT projects, comprehends the business context and goals, and uses their experience to develop optimal solutions, including technology and design choices. They support the project manager in planning software delivery, articulate the vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and work directly with customers to define solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, estimates, and implements technical solutions for medium/high complexity applications
- Participates actively in all phases of application development lifecycle
- Lead and guide less experienced team members
- Collaborates with various project stakeholders to provide support for clarifying requirements, processes, architecture, and priorities
- Recommends and promotes IT industry standards, tools, practices (DevOps, etc.) to achieve well-engineered software products
- Participates in the review of the work done by development team members
- Proposes improvements and escalates risks/issues related to development activities
- Makes decisions which influence the success of projects and team objectives
- Can articulate solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 7+ years’ experience in software development with Java
- Strong understanding of different common programming paradigms (OOP, Functional, etc.)
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and tools such as Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle
- Practical experience in platform-specific database systems and SQL
- Strong familiarity with design/architectural patterns and clean code principles (e.g., SOLID, GoF)
- Profound understanding of client-server and service-based architectures
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices
- Familiarity with ‘Cloud Platforms’ (AWS, Cloud Foundry, Azure and other)
- Proficiency in using application development tools and operational/service architecture
- Familiarity with application systems, software testing (and software testing tools), structured reviews
- Good understanding of information systems concepts and practices, particularly those concerning the systems development life cycle
- Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., SCRUM, KANBAN)
- Good understanding of database selection and design principles - CAP Theorem, Database normalization
- Leadership and people management skills
- Advanced English speaking and writing abilities are required.
