Project description

The Release Analyst for CI/CD Release Trains is responsible for coordinating, planning, and managing the release of software updates across multiple environments. This role involves overseeing the CI/CD pipelines, managing release schedules, and ensuring that releases are delivered on time and with high quality. You will have a strong understanding of DevOps practices, release management, and CI/CD processes, and will be able to work collaboratively with development, QA, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

1. Release Planning and Coordination:

Plan, coordinate, and manage releases across different environments, including development, staging, and production.

Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to define release schedules and ensure alignment with project timelines.

Track and manage release dependencies and risks to ensure smooth and timely delivery.

2. CI/CD Pipeline Management:

Monitor CI/CD pipelines to ensure that builds, tests, and deployments are executed successfully.

Identify and resolve pipeline issues, working closely with DevOps engineers and developers.

Continuously improve pipeline efficiency and reliability by implementing best practices and new tools.

3. Release Process Improvement:

Analyze release processes and identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and reduce release cycle times.

Implement automation solutions to streamline manual release tasks and reduce human error.

Develop and maintain release documentation, including release notes, deployment guides, and rollback procedures.

4. Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all releases meet the defined quality standards and comply with the organization's policies and procedures.

Collaborate with QA teams to ensure thorough testing of releases and validate that issues are resolved before deployment.

Conduct post-release reviews to capture lessons learned and incorporate feedback into future release cycles.

5. Stakeholder Communication:

Communicate release status, progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, including management, project teams, and business units.

Act as a liaison between development teams, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure clear and effective communication throughout the release process.

Provide training and support to teams on release management practices and CI/CD tools.

6. Incident and Problem Management:

Manage release-related incidents and problems, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on production systems.

Coordinate root cause analysis for release-related incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Skills

Must have

10+ years of Proven experience in release management, DevOps, or a similar role with a focus on CI/CD pipelines and release processes.

Strong understanding of CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline).

Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies.

Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

Basic knowledge of scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong attention to detail.

Nice to have

Experience with release orchestration tools

Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and cloud-native CI/CD practices.

Understanding of ITIL practices related to release, change, and configuration management.

Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
