Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS)

You will be crucial in delivering transformative cloud solutions for our clients. Through your extensive experience, you will design and implement automated, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructures. But your role goes beyond implementation; you will develop a strategic vision, guide clients through complex cloud environments, and ensure optimal performance and security. With a comprehensive understanding of the cloud ecosystem, you will lead the integration of cutting-edge technologies, establish best practices, and drive innovation in cloud infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure cloud solutions in close collaboration with engineering and architecture teams.
• Perform cloud engineering tasks within agile sprints, utilizing established best practices and templates.
• Build new cloud environments for customers using native AWS services.
• Utilize fundamental architectural concepts and reusable components to build automated infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and supporting toolsets.
• Present technical solutions to diverse audiences, from developers to analysts to executives.
• Advise customer teams and decision-makers on technology options, best practices, and the added value of cloud-native approaches.
• Act as Rackspace's voice in the customer project, with responsibility for quality, technical transparency, and implementation success.

Requirements

• Proven experience in executing complex cloud projects, from conception to productive deployment.
• In-depth expertise in designing, deploying, and operating automated, secure, and stable cloud infrastructures (AWS).
• Strong customer focus and willingness to take on tasks such as provisioning, maintenance, and further development of cloud-based systems.
• Ability to participate in technical discussions at various levels, from architectural decisions to concrete implementation.
• Application of automation-oriented principles within agile project methods.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as confident interaction in German-speaking customer environments.

Experience

• Solid experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS, both in IaaS and PaaS.
• Practical experience in developing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code approaches, ideally with: Terraform, Ansible, Python, YAML, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Knowledge in programming and scripting (e.g., Python, Go, JavaScript) and experience in development or DevOps teams.
• Familiarity with common security concepts in the cloud (IAM, KMS, Key Vaults, role-based access control, etc.).
• Ideally, experience in enterprise-scale environments with direct customer contact.
• Ability to convey complex technical concepts understandably and act as a trusted advisor for customers.
