Job Description

The Manager of Custodial Services is responsible for planning and executing all custodial, facility maintenance, and employee management, overseeing building requirements for Sphere events. This role ensures a first-class facility operation, managing physical appearance, functionality, and operational standards. The Manager will interface with production and other building managers to provide high-level service, prioritize daily event needs, and maximize labor productivity, maintaining responsiveness to emergencies in a dynamic environment.
Must have:

  • Manage and care for all aspects of the physical facility.
  • Oversee and ensure all tasks and duties are completed timely, safely, and in accordance with policies.
  • Assign tasks fairly and evenly across the custodial workforce.
  • Assign essential preventive maintenance projects with a proactive approach.
  • Perform pre-shift briefing, completion of timesheets, checklists, inspection logs, and inventory logs.
  • Establish policies and procedures for all custodial departments.
  • Coordinate logistics with offsite storage facilities, including inventory, billing, pick-ups, and deliveries.
  • Control supplies and materials, limiting overuse, waste, and theft.
  • Manage custodial service budgets and maintain inventory for cleaning supplies; purchase equipment.
  • Partner with People Practices team regarding hiring, training, performance management, and employee experience.
  • Address disciplinary actions, provide necessary coaching and feedback.
  • Direct custodial supervisors overseeing daily operation and task execution.
  • Ensure cleanliness of bowl floor, seating, restrooms, lounges, DR suites, and hospitality suites.
  • Supervise, train, and manage Supervisors, Leads, and Custodial staff.
  • Maintain high responsiveness to emergencies in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Develop event budgets for residencies, attractions, and corporate & sporting events.
  • Act as a conduit for communications from pre-event and event Managers.

Who are we hiring?

The Manager of Custodial Services is responsible for the planning and execution of all custodial, facility maintenance and employee management. This position is also responsible for overseeing building requirements for all Sphere events. The Manager will interface with the MSG Production Department and other building managers as necessary to ensure that the Facilities Division is providing the highest level of service while prioritizing daily event needs and orchestrating activities to maximize labor productivity.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for maintaining a first-class facility operation. Manage and care for all aspects of the physical facility with a goal of establishing a high level of facility appearance, functionality, and operational standards.
  • Oversee and ensure all task and duties are being completed in timely manner, safely, and in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Assign tasks fairly and evenly across the custodial workforce.
  • Assign essential preventive maintenance projects with a proactive approach.
  • Preform pre-shift briefing, completion of timesheets, completion of checklist, inspection logs, and inventory logs.
  • Establish policies and procedures for all custodial departments.
  • Responsible for coordinating all logistics with offsite storage facilities including managing updated inventory reports, billing, and execution of pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Control of supplies and materials, limiting overuse, waste of resources, and deterrent of theft.
  • Manage custodial service budgets and maintain all inventory for cleaning supplies; purchase any equipment used in various cleaning processes.
  • Partner with People Practices team regarding the hiring, training, performance management and employee experience of all custodial staff.
  • Address disciplinary actions, provide necessary coaching and feedback.
  • Direct the custodial supervisors who oversee and supervise the daily operation and task execution of the custodial team.
  • Ensure cleanliness of bowl floor, bowl seating, restroom, lounges space, DR suites and hospitality suites.
  • Supervise, train, and manager Supervisors, Leads, and Custodial staff.
  • Operations:
  • Maintain high level of responsiveness to emergencies in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Working with other Venue Operations departments and MSG Sphere divisions, develop event budgets for residencies, attractions, and corporate & sporting events.
  • Act as a conduit for communications from pre-event and event Managers, as it relates to ongoing operations and business decisions.

What do you need to succeed?

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of Facility Management experience dealing with multiple events in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Progressive experience in Facilities Management and Event Production with direct responsibility for supervising back of house operating functions with an emphasis on Building Maintenance and Event Operations.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24-hours, 7 day a week environment.
  • Must be available to work shifts as assigned for all mandatory events.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel and lift over 50lbs.
  • Extensive standing, walking, keyboard usage and general administrative duties.
