Job Description

Pentair is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Hanover Park, IL, to implement new operational processes and equipment, supporting strategic goals. This role involves utilizing project management skills, participating in Kaizen events, cell design, and cost improvement projects. The engineer will provide technical support for plant operations, troubleshoot quality and process issues, and ensure continuous flow in the assembly line. They will also work with quality control to maintain product standards and manage capital projects.
Must have:
  • Provide technical support for plant operations and assembly line issues.
  • Guide operators, cell leads, and Production Manager on projects and improvements.
  • Support production with fixturing, tooling, time studies, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify root causes and develop strategies for eliminating downtime.
  • Ensure process and equipment meet quality and engineering standards.
  • Review new/modified specifications and schedule their introduction.
  • Simplify and improve assembly process ergonomics; participate in Kaizen.
  • Source outside vendors, define SOWs, and manage contract deliverables.
  • Responsible for start-up, set-up, and validation of new tools and equipment.
  • Monitor process performance to specifications and implement projects.
  • Apply statistical methods for capable equipment, tools, materials, and processes.
  • Assist with assuring tools, equipment, and processes comply with OSHA.
  • Participate in advanced product quality planning FMEA activities.
Good to have:
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing supporting processes and procedures
  • LEAN manufacturing experience
  • Experience in robotics programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics (Fanuc preferred)
  • Proficiency in Spanish

We have the opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. You will utilize project management skills to implement new operational processes and equipment to assist the business unit in meeting its strategic goals. The Manufacturing Engineer will participate in and support kaizen events, cell design, standard product design revisions, cost improvement projects, capital expenditure projects and supply chain initiatives.

You will:

  • Provides technical support for plant operations. Attend to issues in the assembly line and assure that the operation goes on without any hindrance. Continuous flow of the assembly process.
  • Provide guidance to operators, cell leads, and Production Manager regarding projects, process improvements and issues with the line.
  • Support production by providing fixturing and tooling, conducting time studies, and troubleshooting quality and process issues.
  • Identifies root causes and develops strategies for eliminating re-occurring downtime. Continually monitor, analyze, and resolve process problems. Document all proposals for improved efficiency and make adjustments as required.
  • Works with plant quality control and manufacturing personnel to ensure process and equipment is capable of producing products that meet quality and engineering standards.
  • Reviews new and modified specifications for proper content and schedules their introduction into the manufacturing system.
  • Make the assembly process simpler and ergonomic. Participate in Kaizen events.
  • Able to source outside vendors, define SOW’s and manage contract deliverables.
  • Responsible for start-up, set-up, and validation of new tools and equipment, and for conducting trials, including documentation.
  • Monitors process, including new equipment and tools, to ensure performance to specifications. Implements capital and non-capital projects.
  • Apply statistical methods and data driven problem solving to supply capable equipment, tools, materials, and processes to manufacturing.
  • Assists with assuring tools, equipment, and processes comply with OSHA standards.
  • Participate in the advanced product quality planning FMEA activities for the development of the control plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing supporting both processes and procedures; 7+ years preferred.
  • Understanding of Project/Program Management Methodologies and utilizing resources to drive bottom line results.
  • Basic working knowledge of PLC programming and ladder logic.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, servo motion control, sonic and spin welding.
  • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and JDE.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Solidworks, and other related programs
  • Hands on with a strong mechanical / electrical aptitude
  • Proficiency in English required.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $82300- $152800/ year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with a demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
