We currently have an excellent opportunity to join the Engine Overhaul Services (EOS) – Off-wing Operations as an NDT Level 3 Process Owner. As the Business NDT Level 3 Process Owner you will be providing technical support to NDT Level 2 technicians and operational team, whilst developing, maintain and continuously improve NDT processes and/or methods, capable of meeting business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, deliver rate and lead time (SQCD).
Must have:
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes can achieve and sustaining the design intent, and that processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification.
  • Drive a culture of zero defects within the organisation.
  • Review component manufacturing sequencing for adequacy.
  • Drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice.
  • Maintain technical control of NDT activities in accordance with the requirements of the controlling procedures, and customer specification.
  • NDT Level 3 in Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI)
  • NDT Level 3 in Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
  • NDT Level 3 in Eddy Current Inspection
  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent)
  • Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) where available
Good to have:
  • NDT Level 3 in Ultrasonic Inspection
  • NDT Level 3 in X-Ray Inspection

As the Business NDT Level 3 Process Owner you will be providing technical support to NDT Level 2 technicians and operational team, whilst developing, maintain and continuously improve NDT processes and/or methods, capable of meeting business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, deliver rate and lead time (SQCD).

Key Accountabilities

  • HSE - Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
  • Product Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes can achieve and sustaining the design intent, and that processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification. Rigorously raise, investigate and resolve safety related issues.
  • Quality - Drive a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement - Review component manufacturing sequencing for adequacy. Ensuring the appropriate tests are conducted throughout the manufacturing cycle based on the processes used.
  • Minimum standards - Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders and Manufacturing Process Owners, drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice.
  • Technical Authority – Maintain technical control of NDT activities in accordance with the requirements of the controlling procedures, and customer specification. The duties will include
  • Write the NDT inspection instructions and declare any limitations to the process. i.e. MVA or data card
  • Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
  • Review Component Inspection Manual and Overhaul Process Manuals for adequacy, content and inspection capability
  • Maintain all approvals for NDT Inspectors in accordance with the controlling specifications including annual appraisals, 5-yearly re-approvals, performance and process monitoring.
  • Write the NDT inspection instructions and declare any limitations to the process. i.e. MVA or data card
  • Conduct practical examinations, and oversee written examinations after obtaining the necessary delegation
  • Review Component Inspection Manual and Overhaul Process Manuals for adequacy, content and inspection capability
  • Maintain all approvals for NDT Inspectors in accordance with the controlling specifications including annual appraisals, 5-yearly re-approvals, performance and process monitoring.
  • Maintain vision requirements for NDT Inspectors in accordance with RRP58000
  • Maintain internal NDT audits as per Quality requirements. i.e NUCAP

Key Skills and Experiences

  • NDT Level 3 in Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) – Required
  • NDT Level 3 in Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) – Required
  • NDT Level 3 in Eddy Current Inspection – Required
  • NDT Level 3 in Ultrasonic Inspection – Optional
  • NDT Level 3 in X-Ray Inspection – Optional

Qualifications

  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent)
  • Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) where available
