Job Description

As a North America Packaging Engineer, you will lead packaging optimization initiatives and key projects to transform the Production Control & Logistics (PC&L) function. This role involves coordinating global packaging development from design to implementation, interacting with plants, senior management, and other business functions. You will also be responsible for performance management of site teams to ensure excellence in KPI and forecast management.
Must have:
  • Support Global Packaging Engineering group
  • Design, test, and implement outbound packaging for new product launches
  • Ensure compliance with packaging procedures and processes across ASUX
  • Drive packaging value and profitability improvement
  • Improve returnable packaging flow management
  • Share best practices across all ASUX sites
  • Support customers with packaging excellence solutions
  • Define RACI for Inbound & Outbound Packaging Planning
  • Release documentation for production intent packaging at PV Build
  • Support all ASUX RFQs
  • Participate in Kaizen/Gemba workshops
  • Participate in advanced material meetings prior to SOP
  • Provide Inbound Packaging information for all sourcing parts
  • Develop End-to-End Packaging Integrated Solutions
  • Develop new supplier packaging strategy, guidelines, and processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Logistics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain Operations, Manufacturing, and Logistics
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP and relevant systems/tools
  • Good knowledge of the English language
  • Analytical mindset
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and system integration
  • Experience in a challenging automotive environment
  • Leadership and people management skills
  • AutoCAD Knowledge

Job Details

As North America Packaging Engineer you will drive packaging optimization initiatives and lead key projects supporting the transformation of our Production Control & Logistics (PC&L) function. In this key position you will be coordinating the packaging development (from design to implementation) and optimization initiatives in our division at a global level, interacting with the Plants as well as senior management and other business functions. You will also be responsible to lead performance management of the site teams to drive the excellence in KPI and forecast management.

My Role:

  • Support Global Packaging Engineering group in regards to people, process, roadmap and financials
  • Design, test and implement outbound packaging for new product launch
  • Ensure following packaging procedures and processes across ASUX
  • Ensure Packaging value and % to sales beating BBP
  • Support profitability improvement initiatives
  • Improve returnable packaging flow management
  • Share best practices across all sites in ASUX
  • Support customer in packaging excellence solutions
  • Define RACI for Packaging Planning (Inbound & Outbound)
  • Release documentation and provide production intent packaging at PV Build in support of Launch Performance Goals
  • Support on all ASUX RFQs
  • Participate in Kaizen/Gemba workshops as needed
  • Participate in advanced material meetings prior to SOP to ensure Original and Alternative Packaging are implemented
  • Support in providing Inbound Packaging information to all sourcing parts (from sourcing to SOP)
  • Develop E2E Packaging Integrated Solutions (from Inbound to Outbound)
  • Develop new supplier packaging strategy, guidelines and related process and activities

My Background:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Science in Logistics, Business Management, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant area;
  • Extensive knowledge of Supply Chain Processes (with preference for Operations, Manufacturing and Logistics related ones);
  • 5+ years of significant Experience in a Business Process Role related to Supply Chain Operations, Manufacturing and Logistics;
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP and other relevant systems/tools, and relevant experience as a professional user in a challenging environment;
  • Good knowledge of the English language;
  • Analytical mindset, strongly process driven and used to view the performance through “process and people” angle;
  • Good working knowledge of MS office and integration with other systems;
  • Experience in a challenging automotive environment;
  • Skills and/or Experience as a leader & people manager in a global team environment.
  • AutoCAD Knowledge.

Nice to haves (preferred qualifications)

  • Basic understanding of Lean principles and tools;
  • Basic knowledge on Six Sigma principles and tools;
