Role Profile
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Software Engineer for LSEG’s Real Time data distribution system in the Real Time Core team. The successful candidate will combine strong technical and collaboration skills in a demanding and dynamic environment. You will work directly with your team and with groups across the organisation to ensure the best service for our client base.
You will be a member of a multi-skilled team building and maintaining components for our market leading Elektron system. Role Responsibilities
- Engaging with the product owner, team lead, architects and other members of the global team you'll help build world-class solutions to address our customer needs.
- Manages own workload and promotes an inclusive and open culture.
- Design, implement automated CI-CD pipelines to ensure seamless software deployment.
- Develop infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions to automate the provisioning and scaling of cloud resources.
- Act as the SME for one or more of the supported applications.
- Ensure that system design, workflows and processes are well-documented and aligned with compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams (developers, QA, product owners, security and operations) to implement DevOps standard methodologies.
- Demonstrating a consistent focus on quality and security, you'll deliver reliable, robust solutions and you’ll also be involved in carrying out due diligence on third party technical delivery.
- Takes initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications and projects.
- Actively participating in Scrum meetings, you'll give timely status updates to the Team Lead and/or Scum Master on areas for which you are responsible.
- Through agile retrospectives and reviews, you'll analyse and adapt, finding innovative ways to enable your team work more effectively delivering on time to defined standards of quality.
- You'll need to able to work well under pressure and be adept at taking problems and seeing them through to resolution with minimal supervision.
- You'll be an excellent communicator and very client focused with strong interpersonal skills.
- You'll ensure that the Knowledge Base is kept up to date with the team's knowledge and technical issues resolution.
Key Relationships
- Primary - will be with the Development Manager, Development team, Operations Support team, Quality Engineering Teams, Architecture, SCRUM Master, Product Owner, and Business Experts assigned to projects.
- Secondary - with other LSEG staff.
Role Requirements
Must have:
- Proven experience as Principal DevOps Engineer (minimum 8 years).
- Strong proficiency with Cloud Platforms - AWS cloud architecture, and security best practices.
- Experience in working with AWS.Database, AWS API Management, ADAM Asset Studio, Amazon VPC, AWS.Compute, Amazon Elastic Container Registry, AWS Lambda, Elasticsearch, AWS.Storage.
- Experience in Linux operating systems including BASH scripting knowledge – any additional scripting knowledge beneficial, particularly Python.
- Proven experience in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Cloud Formation, CloudWatch, Ansible.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience of working with ServiceNow, GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Kafka with pro-active approach to learning about and adapting to new technologies.
- Application knowledge and experience preferably gained within a critical support environment.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements and automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to react to and keep up with quickly changing technical events and requirements.
- Ability to quickly understand the wider impacts of changes and technical issues.
- Degree level qualification (Computing / Computer Science or related discipline).
Nice to have:
- Experience of working on Azure Cloud platform.
- Experience of working with and supporting C++, and Java applications.
- Relevant certification such as AWS DevOps Engineer qualification.
