Join GoDaddy's Hosting Security Detection Engineering team as a Principal Security Engineer. This role involves safeguarding millions of customers across diverse hosting ecosystems, including WordPress, cPanel, Plesk, VPS, DNS, and email solutions. As a technical leader, you'll own SIEM detection capabilities and incident escalation, collaborating with incident response and web malware research teams to proactively counter emerging threats. This position offers a direct impact on customer security at scale, utilizing innovative detection technologies and threat intelligence, while mentoring security engineers. You will gain deep expertise in large-scale security operations and advance leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.
Must have:
  • Design and implement sophisticated security detection systems.
  • Lead development of custom detection rules and analytics using SIEM platforms.
  • Architect scalable security monitoring solutions.
  • Collaborate with incident response teams to refine detection logic.
  • Mentor team members and provide technical leadership on security engineering projects.
  • Drive automation initiatives for detection deployment, tuning, and maintenance.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in security or detection engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in SIEM platforms (Splunk, Elastic Security, Chronicle, Sentinel).
  • Programming skills in Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with threat intelligence platforms.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, system administration, and security frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, NIST).
Good to have:
  • Security certifications (GCIH, GCFA, CISSP, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer)
  • Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)

Join our dynamic Hosting Security Detection Engineering team as a Principal Security Engineer. In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in safeguarding millions of customers across our diverse hosting ecosystem including fully managed WordPress sites, cPanel servers, Plesk hosting, virtual private servers, domain name services, and hosted email solutions.

As a technical leader on our team, you'll take ownership of our SIEM detection capabilities and incident escalation processes, while collaborating closely with our internal incident response team and web malware research teams to proactively seek emerging threat campaigns across our infrastructure. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to make a direct impact on customer security at scale, working with innovative detection technologies and threat intelligence, while mentoring a hardworking team of security engineers. What you'll get to do...

  • Design and implement sophisticated security detection systems across cloud and on-premises hosting infrastructure to identify threats, anomalies, and security incidents in real-time
  • Lead the development of custom detection rules and analytics using SIEM platforms, threat intelligence feeds, and behavioral analysis to improve the organization's security posture
  • Architect scalable security monitoring solutions that can handle high-volume data ingestion while maintaining low latency detection capabilities across diverse hosting environments
  • Collaborate with incident response teams to refine detection logic based on threat hunting findings, false positive analysis, and emerging attack patterns
  • Mentor team members and provide technical leadership on complex security engineering projects, code reviews, and standard methodologies implementation
  • Drive automation initiatives for detection deployment, tuning, and maintenance while establishing metrics and KPIs to measure detection effectiveness and coverage

Your experience should include...

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering, detection engineering, or similar roles with proven expertise in threat detection and security monitoring
  • Strong proficiency in SIEM platforms (Splunk, Elastic Security, Chronicle, Sentinel) including advanced query languages (SPL, KQL, Lucene) and custom dashboard creation
  • Programming skills in Python, PowerShell, or similar languages for automation, data analysis, and custom detection tool development
  • Deep understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) including native security services, logging mechanisms, and infrastructure-as-code security practices
  • Experience with threat intelligence platforms and the ability to translate IOCs, TTPs, and threat research into actionable detection rules and hunting queries
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, system administration, and security frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, NIST) with experience in log analysis and forensic investigation

  • Group 1: $137,000.00 – $206,000.00
  • Group 2: $153,500.00 – $230,500.00
  • Group 3: $163,200.00 – $244,800.00
  • Group 4: $178,500.00 – $267,500.00
