The QA Engineering Co-Op intern will assist with various quality assurance processes, including incoming raw material inspection, continuous improvement projects, documentation control, and supplier quality management. Key responsibilities involve performing incoming inspections, maintaining records, assisting with approved supplier lists, reporting nonconforming materials, and supporting document maintenance. The role requires an active higher-education student with strong organizational, communication, and basic microbiological/chemical skills.
Must have:
  • Assist with incoming raw material inspection and release.
  • Complete records and documentation for raw materials and products.
  • Assist QA Document Control in maintaining approved supplier lists.
  • Report nonconforming materials and assist with investigations and CAPA.
  • Assist with maintenance of internal and external documents.
  • Must be an active higher-education student.
  • Able to perform basic microbiological/chemical functions like micro-pipetting.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.
Good to have:
  • Majors in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, or Chemistry
  • Able to work in a dynamic, multi-tasking and cross-functional environment
  • Team-oriented and pro-active attitude
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with management and lab personnel
  • Good organizational skills with keen attention to details
  • Ability to exercise good judgment within defined procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English

Description

The intern will be responsible for assisting with QA process including incoming raw material inspection, continuous improvement projects, documentation control and archiving, supplier quality management, and other quality functions as needed.

Primary Duties:

  • Work under the supervision of senior QA Engineers to perform incoming inspection and release of raw materials and products, and ensure only compliant and quality materials are used in our manufacturing process.
  • Completes records and documentation related to incoming raw materials, products and/or services from suppliers.
  • Assists QA Document Control in maintaining approved supplier lists.
  • Reports nonconforming materials to senior QA personnel and Quality Manager, and assist with any follow-up investigations and CAPA implementation.
  • Assists QA functions as needed with maintenance of internal and external documents, and controlled documentation.

Training, Education & Experience:

  • Must be an active higher-education student.
  • Preferred Majors: Biomed. - Biomedical Engineering, Arts & Sci. - Biological Sciences, Arts & Sci. - Chemistry

Minimum time and type experience required for this position.

1. Beginner - Limited or no previous work experience/first Co-op

2. Intermediate - Some related work or volunteer experience/second Co-op

3. Advanced - Previous related work experience/final Co-op

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Able to work in a dynamic, multi-tasking and cross-functional environment
  • Must be able to perform basic microbiological/chemical functions like micro-pipetting, etc.
  • Team-oriented and pro-active attitude; ability to communicate and interact effectively with management as well as lab personnel.
  • Good organizational skills with keen attention to details.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment within defined procedures and to recognize deviation from accepted practices
  • Good computer skills, including; MS Word and Excel
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
