Job Description

We are looking for a curious and adaptable student developer to research and implement innovative software solutions. This is an opportunity to work closely with the QNX Services Engineering Team in Ottawa, supporting major automotive companies. Responsibilities include collaborating with Systems Engineers on internal tools, designing automation scripts, contributing to full-stack development, assisting with dashboards, and supporting DevOps initiatives.
Must have:
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers to develop and maintain internal tools and utilities.
  • Design and implement software pipelines and automation scripts to support engineering workflows.
  • Contribute to full-stack development projects using modern frameworks such as React and Laravel.
  • Assist in the development of dashboards and web interfaces for internal use.
  • Support DevOps initiatives including CI/CD pipeline improvements and infrastructure automation.
  • Work closely with the Technical Project Management and Engineering Services teams to identify and solve tooling challenges.
  • Strong foundation in programming fundamentals.
  • Experience with Python and/or Java, and/or PHP, and/or scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, web frameworks (e.g., React, Laravel), and development tools.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Comfortable working across different operating systems and using the command line.

  • Experience participating in hackathons.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

POSITION SUMMARY

Location: Ottawa, ON

Length of Term: 4/8 Months

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers to develop and maintain internal tools and utilities.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in programming fundamentals.
  • Experience with Python and/or Java, and/or PHP, and/or scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, web frameworks (e.g., React, Laravel), and development tools.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working across different operating systems and using the command line.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and adapt quickly.

Additional Asset
