Job Description

The R&D Mechatronic Project Technical Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of R&D projects. This includes leading the mechanical design (85%) and HW design (15%) activities for radar systems, from the initial design phase through to production deployment. Key responsibilities involve applying the specific project management methodologies, ensuring robust designs within budget, adhering to standardization rules, conducting design reviews, representing the R&D function to the customer, and managing the detailed scheduling and budgeting of the project. The role also includes the daily management of R&D contributors and assigning work packages. The job involves a deep understanding of design and project management within the automotive industry. The candidate will need to work with CATIA and have experience in project management. The role reports to the project manager and R&D manager as needed.

We are looking for a R&D Mechatronic Project Technical Manager to join our team. You will be accountable for the deliverables of R&D to ensure the success of the project. In this role, you would be leading primarily the Mechanical (85%) design and HW design (15%) activities in the radar field from the early design phase (concept) up to the final production deployment.

YOUR CHALLENGES:

Accountable for the deliverables:

  • Apply the specific PDP of his/her PG/PL following CPM (CLEAN Project Management)

  • In charge of the robust design in line with the economical targets

  • Applies Standardization rules, exceptionally will request de standardizations based on sound justifications

  • Call for all necessary design reviews

  • Make sure that Design Reviews of other networks are happening in a timely manner (Purchase, Industrial)

  • Represent the R&D function at the customer

  • Interface with the customer for the R&D subjects of the project, break down and cascade internally customer requests and needs

  • Report  and escalate to his project manager or R&D manager as needed

Responsible for the detailed scheduling and budgeting

  • Contribute to the identification of the needs in terms of resources, equipments, investments

  • Establish detail break down of the activities to meet the milestones

  • Follow activities and spending of his scope to meet his allowed budget

 

Management of the contributors

  • Daily management of all R&D contributors, dedicated or not

  • Assign to them the work packages needed

  • Regular review with his/her R&D manager or Product Manager and the Discipline Department Managers to check alignment between needs and availabilities

  • Hands on experience with CATIA

  • Experience with project management or team coordination

  • Strong leadership abilities and stress resistance

  • Problem solving, analytical and negotiation skills
