Salesforce Technical Manager
The Salesforce Technical Manager serves as the primary technical point of contact for Salesforce development initiatives within CME Group. This role is pivotal in bridging communication and collaboration with our internal clients and stakeholders, supporting our product owners with technical expertise, and providing technical guidance and best practices to our CRM teams.
Furthermore, this manager will be a key liaison with other technical departments, including Global Information Security, IT, and other product teams that have integrations and touchpoints with our Salesforce platform.
This position requires a strong technical understanding of the Salesforce platform, combined with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. You will ensure that technical solutions meet business requirements while adhering to established best practices and security standards.
Responsibilities:
Solution Architecture & Data Strategy:
Collaborate with Product Owners and CRM development teams to define technical feasibility, architect high-level Salesforce solution strategies.
Drive adherence to Salesforce architectural standards, design patterns, and integration best practices across projects.
Champion data quality by partnering with business stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and define business requirements for data integrity; oversee the strategic aspects of data quality initiatives, with execution carried out by the development team.
Integration Management & Technical Coordination:
Lead as the primary technical point of contact for all Salesforce platform integrations, guiding internal and external teams on technical requirements and best practices.
Coordinate with cross-functional technical teams (e.g., Information Security, IT, other product teams) to manage dependencies and ensure seamless, secure solution delivery.
Development Oversight & Quality Assurance:
Oversee Salesforce development projects, ensuring adherence to established technical best practices.
Guide development teams (including close collaboration with offshore technical counterparts) on solution implementation, technical design reviews, and maintaining code quality.
Champion and enforce Salesforce security standards in partnership with relevant security teams.
Technical Stakeholder Communication & Platform Governance:
Manage stakeholder expectations through clear and proactive communication regarding technical risks, platform impacts, and dependencies.
Lead the response to internal Salesforce platform audits by taking ownership of remediation plans for identified findings, ensuring exceptions are appropriately extended or closed out, and assisting the platform owner with information gathering for audit responses and successful remediation to uphold platform compliance.
Advise on Salesforce platform tooling, release management strategies, and processes to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience with the Salesforce platform in a technical or techno-functional role, with exposure to Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and the development of custom applications and integrations on the Force.com platform.
3+ years of experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions, contributing to functional/technical specifications, data modeling, and system design for Salesforce projects.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and build strong relationships.
Strong ability to collaborate effectively with both onshore (US and UK) and offshore teams (LatAm, India), acting as a bridge to ensure clear understanding and efficient execution.
Solid understanding of Salesforce declarative customization (e.g., Workflows & Approval Process, Process Builder, Flow, tasks, events, Email Services, Security Controls, Objects, relationships).
Good understanding of Salesforce custom development concepts on the Force.com platform (Apex, Triggers, Visualforce, Lightning Components, SOQL, Governor Limits).
Familiarity with data migration strategies and integration tools (e.g. Informatica, Mulesoft, Apex Data Loader, Workbench).
Experience with data analysis, manipulation, and troubleshooting within Salesforce.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines.
Strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a team-player mentality with strong organizational skills.
Must be based in a US time zone to facilitate effective collaboration with US-based stakeholders.
