Job Description

As a Senior Associate, you will play a key role in shaping communications for an upcoming pan-India transport initiative. The role involves creating compelling communication materials—ranging from social media content, videos, and infographics to event collaterals, brochures, and more. Your day will involve developing digital media content for various channels, leveraging existing products for tailored social media messaging, maintaining content calendars, and identifying new content opportunities. You will also create and implement digital communication plans for events, develop content for press releases, blogs, and brochures, and facilitate op-ed writing, ensuring content accuracy and brand consistency. Additionally, you will convert research insights into simple language, visualize infographics, prepare presentations, and support on-ground events.
Must have:
  • Develop communication material suited for different formats (like short video snippets, graphics, reels) for different channels—WhatsApp, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Leverage existing products (like research reports, decks, and blogs) and identify key messages to develop tailored social media messaging.
  • Maintain a structured blog and social media outreach calendar.
  • Create and implement a digital communication plan for pre- and post-event outreach.
  • Develop content for press releases, blogs, brochures, and facilitate the writing of op-eds for external publications.
  • Ensure all content is accurate and grammatically correct while maintaining WRI India branding and style guidelines.
  • Work with leadership to create short thought pieces and articles.
  • Convert research insights into simple-to-understand language and visualizing infographics that are palatable to a larger digital audience.
  • Prepare attractive and informative presentation decks as needed.
  • Support teams in developing reading materials (concept notes, agendas, etc.) for convenings/events.
  • Facilitate internal coordination and lend support during on-ground events.
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time experience working as a communication coordinator.
  • Experience in dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders and vendors.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships internally and externally.
  • Capability to communicate complex ideas in everyday language.
  • Ability to meet stringent deadlines, manage multiple project deadlines.
  • Understanding of how events are organized and basic troubleshooting.
Good to have:
  • Proficiency in additional Indian languages.
  • Prior work experience in mainstream print media, especially on urban mobility.
  • Knowledge of the public transport landscape in India.
  • Basic familiarity with design software (Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, or other AV/animation software).

About the Role:

As a Senior Associate, you will play a key role in shaping communications for an upcoming pan-India transport initiative. The role involves creating compelling communication materials—ranging from social media content, videos, and infographics to event collaterals, brochures, and more.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Proven experience in developing engaging content
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with partners across cities and diverse backgrounds
  • Basic design and video editing capabilities
  • Proficiency in additional Indian languages (a plus)
  • Candidates with prior work experience in mainstream print media, especially on urban mobility, will be preferred
  • The role would require the candidate to also travel to different cities in India for organizing convenings.

How your day will unfold:

Digital Media Content Creation (50%)

  • Develop communication material suited for different formats (like short video snippets, graphics, reels) for different channels—WhatsApp, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Leverage existing products (like research reports, decks, and blogs) and identify key messages to develop tailored social media messaging.
  • Maintain a structured blog and social media outreach calendar.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new content (like writing a blog to highlight a milestone or creating an attractive post based on a new publication release).
  • Create and implement a digital communication plan for pre- and post-event outreach.

Other Content Creation (30%)

  • Develop content for press releases, blogs, brochures, and facilitate the writing of op-eds for external publications.
  • Ensure all content is accurate and grammatically correct while maintaining WRI India branding and style guidelines.
  • Work with leadership to create short thought pieces and articles.

Research and Event Outreach and Support (20%)

  • Convert research insights into simple-to-understand language and visualizing infographics that are palatable to a larger digital audience.
  • Prepare attractive and informative presentation decks as needed.
  • Support teams in developing reading materials (concept notes, agendas, etc.) for convenings/events.
  • Facilitate internal coordination and lend support during on-ground events.

Qualifications & Requirements we seek:

  • Minimum 5 years of full-time experience working as a communication coordinator.

Salary and Benefits: 14,00,000-18,00,000Lpa

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Duration: 1 year (extendable based on performance and project requirements)

Start Date: At the earliest
