Job Description

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and build robust, high-quality data pipelines and curated datasets that power analytics, AI, and dashboards across the organization. You will partner with analytics and business stakeholders to gather data requirements, develop automated data workflows using dbt, and ensure data quality through validation and testing. This role involves continuous improvement of the data engineering stack and mentoring team members, supporting global departments like Finance, Product, Customer Support, Marketing, and Sales.
Must have:
  • Partner with analytics and business stakeholders to gather data requirements and translate them into scalable data models and pipelines.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated data workflows and transformations using dbt.
  • Perform in-depth validation and profiling of data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across sources.
  • Implement and maintain robust data quality checks and automated tests to ensure the integrity of critical data flows.
  • Document data models, transformations, and business logic in a clear and collaborative manner.
  • Mentor and train other team members on dbt best practices, modular design, and performance optimization.
  • Continuously improve the data engineering stack and contribute to our internal data engineering standards.
  • 5+ years of advanced SQL and DBT development skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field.
  • Experience working in a SaaS-based technology company.
  • Proficiency in Python for data exploration and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile Software Development methodologies and tools like Jira.
  • Working experience in cloud-based data platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Available to attend meetings during US overlapping hours (8 AM to 12 PM PST).

Your role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design and build robust, high-quality data pipelines and curated datasets that power analytics, AI, and dashboards across the organization. This role is based in India and reports to the Senior Director of Data Analytics in the US. The candidate must be available to attend meetings during US overlapping hours (8 AM to 12 PM PST) and be willing to travel occasionally.

Dialpad’s data team acts as a centralized hub, supporting the analytics and business intelligence needs of global departments such as Finance, Product, Customer Support, Marketing, and Sales. The team is responsible for data ingestion, ensuring data quality, managing data engineering, and delivering business analytics services, including report automation, as well as descriptive and predictive analytics. Dialpad’s data team operates from four global hubs located in the US, Canada, Argentina, and India.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with analytics and business stakeholders to gather data requirements and translate them into scalable data models and pipelines.
